L11 Startup Animation Creating Registry Key Help

Im trying to modify the startup animation and startup noise for 6.1 L11, evidently can't modify the htcanimation files since theyre in the ROM. I want to import my own files and rename them, and then modify the registry but am unsure how to create these strings. Can someone help me input these values? Im using resco registry explorer and I can get to the htc folder, but the rest of the value isn't there. I realize I have to create the rest of the extension (ie \htcanimation\startupgif =\windows\myanimationstartup.gif), but not quite sure what to do after that, as I've never created a value in Resco Registry. I'd play around with it, but Im very paranoid about messing with the registry. Thanks in advance.

create a new string value called:
Start upGif (or whatever it is called)

the data is:
\Windows\MyAnimationStartup.gif
