Question Backup/restore to pagepool altered ROM?

Following up on my earler page pool post, if I were make a complete backup of my Ax (SPB Backup 2) using a ROM with the stock page pool, would there be problems to restore this onto a ROM with the page pool increased to 16 MB?

Restoring a complete ROM onto another ROM is not recommended by any standard.

I suggest you restore the PIM data only (Contacts, Calendar, and Tasks). Then reinstall any programs.

If you are theoretically flashing the same ROM but with some minor changes it would probably work.

However, as John suggests you are better off being ready to reinstall everything.

I've never been a great fan of restoring from backup myself, I prefer to start with a clean slate, and in the majority of setups it doesn't take that long. I keep all the cab file for programs I use on an SD card and just slip it in and install them as I need them. I keep all Reg details with the cab.
Yes, some programs require you to fiddle about with the settings, but Mostly that only takes a few minutes, and sometimes you realise you just don't need to do that much tweaking.

Sound advice.
During a reinstall you definitely find that a lot of stuff you had installed wasn't really necessary or useful.

Interestingly though, the new SPB Backup claims that it has a mode that can handle restores not only on different ROMs but even on different devices!
