Need suggestions for digital camera

Im looking to buy a new digital camera for the summer.
I dont want to spend too much on it, anywhere up to $250.
I would like it to have manual controls but its not necessary.
Ive been trying to stick to canon or panasonic but im open to suggestions.

Thanks for the help,
Coop

Canon PowerShot SX10 IS

Try dcresource.com for a good review.
Might cost a little more than you want to spend, but worth every cent.

I got the Canon SX110 IS for Christmas. It has a really good zoom and had everything from Fully Automatic to Manual exposure controls.

You can find it for around $200 lots of places.

It got a Consumer Reports best buy.

I just bought this one.
I doesn't have much manual control, but the reviews are stellar. It also features a 12x zoom in a really compact form factor.

I just bought the SX10 IS myself to replace my aging Power-Shot Pro-1. Incredible piece of equipment. Worth every penny.

If you still want a high quality camera but not as expensive, go for a Canon A580 or something along those lines. I have one of those also - take it with me when I don't have room for the big camera (like in my bike bag). The 580 takes outstanding shots. Can be had for about $150.

I have a lot of love for the Panasonic cameras. They take womderful pics. I had an FZ-8, and considered it the best Bridge camera I'd ever used. I've never used their pocket cameras, but have a very high regard for the bridges.
