Windows Mobile 6.5 L14 Released

Just thought I'd post this over here in case there are some people that don't read Lenny's site. The rom is very smooth and nice, just be warned this rom is very memory intensive, and you will only have about 19mb ram left over. Luckily for me I have the upgrade so I dont have to worry about it, :approve: Im running a 16mb pagepool and have about 78 mb rams leftover-it is very slick! Cheers.

Well the good part is now I got something to look forward to tomorrow. night all.

L14 is totally new and blazing fast. Haven't got time to try the major features yet. Seems like a huge improvement over WM6.1.

Barrow, try turning the brightness to lowest.

I'm kind of new to messing around with Axims, but I have an x51v that I got for exactly this. I have heard of Lenny's site, but I do not know where it is. Can you provide a link to it?

I don't know yet what is the memory upgrade you talk about? What is a pagepool?

Thank you

LennySh is the owner of HTCGeeks. His new ROM page is here.

The memory upgrade allows Axim's memory to be increased from 64MB to 128MB. This allows more programs to be run simultaneously and the OS to be more responsive. Of course, the cost is what prevents many people, like me, to upgrade. PPC Techs has an upgrade, the page is here.

A page pool is somewhat resemblance of a virtual memory in PCs (If you don't know what a virtual memory is, it utilizes part of hard drive space to function as cache if RAM is not enough). There is a PP editor (Page pool editor) that allows you to choose the page pool.

A 0 page pool forces all programs to reside within the RAM. This causes programs to run faster, but at the cost of crashing the Axim if there is not enough RAM.

A larger page pool (Like 8-16MB) allows programs to run better but less programs can run simultaneously. But people who have upgraded their RAM to 128MB, they can change their page pool to a high value and still not run out of RAM. Lenny's ROM have their page pool set to 5MB.

If you want to flash your ROM to Lenny's L14, I would willing to assist you in that process. Either you can PM (Private Message) me or create a new thread in this forum.

Thank you, that is a good explanation. I understand ram upgrades, I live for computers. :-)

I have heard that it is possible to use a CF card as virtual RAM. Is this true? Is this an acceptable substitute for getting the real ram upgrade, considering the upgrade costs more than an x51v on ebay?

I think the thing I look forward to most is being able to use SDHC cards for more storage.

If you ever decide to upgrade your ram I highly recommend Pda palm center and alex fung. The entire process cost me $95 and took about a 9 days altogether with the shipping time. That is roughly half the cost of other services.

Palm-Center/Ram upgrade

has anybody tried it on an unmodifiied x51v with 64mb RAM?

does it install ok, and would it be acceptable if i only want to run 1 or 2 programs at a time?

I've had L14 on mine for about 3 days now. I don't have the RAM upgrade and it works pretty good. Does sometimes lockup when using Opera but I'd give it an A++. Since I can't get on to HTCGEEKS.com from work I'd like to thank Lenny and the group for all their hard work. Again another ROM that make the X51V an up to date machine!!!!

Jerryfreak, the ROM is not as RAM intensive as most people think.

I am able to run both Opera and Garmin Mobile XT with a little bit of RAM left over. So 1 or 2 programs should be no problems at all.
