Axim X51V Syncs only w Hard Reset

When my Windows Vista computers updated to service pack 2, I was no longer able to sync my Dell X51V Axim to either of them. When cradled and uncradled, the customary beeping occurred but the Axim and computer never saw each other. The same thing happened on both of my computers with the Axim. After a 6 week back and forth of emails with Microsoft, I happened upon the hard reset (pressing reset on back together with on/off button for 5 seconds). Immediately after a hard reset, the Axim connects and fully syncs. But once uncradled, it will not sync again until I perform another hard reset. Microsoft is telling me that it's a compatability issue with the current version of Vista. Anyone have any ideas on how to overcome having to do a hard reset?

My first thought is to try a soft reset rather than the more terminal hard reset, I get an occasional problem syncing with Vista and this usually resolves any difficulties.

However, as your issue seems to be persistent, I would be tempted to back the device up and remove any Today plugins and then reinstall them one-by-one to see if one of them is the cause of the problem.

It might be worth letting us know if you've updated the OS to WM6 and what (if any) plugins you're running.

Just a quick note in passing.

One of the more common reasons for it not connecting with Vista is the advanced network setting.

Start/Settings/Connections/USB to PC untic the box for "Enable Advanced Network Functionality" or words to that effect.
