Hi johnhu, no the battery looks ok, some of the plastic cover seems to be alittle loose on the sides ( you can rub your finger along side it and push it back down, but it doesn't seem to be sticking ) like tape with a air bubble..........sort of

I still dont trust it tho, after reading info on batteries, on university battery...I think it would be a good idea to get rid of it...

thank you

I'm still using WM2003, so I've never needed to use the server trick myself.

from what I understand that is what this use to be, since this is my first and only pda, this is a huge learning curve...

from what I read tho, I thought that maybe this had that issue, I wasn't 100 % sure, but I thought it couldn't hurt doing it...

well, I just checked the pda again and it's cool, and at 98 % that is very good...

last night it was 100 %, this morning 99, and this evening 98 so it looks like it is doing a whole lot better then it was...

Thank you all for your help.....take care:approve:

Should the server trick also be necessary for WM6 ?
I thought that it was just for just WM5 :scratch_h

Hi Zaniax, I really am not sure, maybe someone, who is really an expert on this could maybe answer this, I thought because of the issues, it might help this pda....the person who owned this prior did all the upgrading...

I dont know....sorry... it seems to have helped this one, now that I did a hard reset and then did the server trick prior to putting anything on it, or syncing it...

but then again, I also am using a different battery now, so....
now I really dont know...

at least it is set to manual... and there were times when off, it would come on...unless I locked it with the button.. and when it was in the cradle and off also, it would just come on, even if I had it off...

I am still learning about this, in a very slow way, because I am not on it very much...

Thank you

you say you buy from dell, for the battery, can you give me a link as to where and how much..
my mouth might drop but if they last that long, it would be worth it...hopefully:approve:
I don't think that Dell delivers Axim batteries anymore.

My batteries are not totally down, but:

4 batteries (almost) used up in 4 years gives an average of 1 year each = equivalent to about 400 charges for a lifetime.
This seems to be quite normal.

I've heard that batteries on Ebay are really not that good unless the seller has a good reputation. The best thing to do is to go with what's been known to work, start with Dell. If Dell doesn't sell axim batteries anymore, then read some reviews and buy from a reputable 3rd party. I think that Aximsite (excuse me, it's Mobilitysite now) has a battery merchant as on of its sponsors, consider checking there.

Just purchased 2 pda batteries from PDASmart.com; have dealt with this company for over 6 years; fast, competitive and very customer oriented. Truly back up their repairs and accessories.

I've gotten the standard size batteries from PPCTechs and have had great experience with them. Their ads regularly run on this site. They have the larger sized batteries in stock, too (I would have gotten one of those but i like keeping my Axim in my regular case).

If you order, don't forget to check for member discounts in the hot deals section of the forums here. Several of the long-time vendors who advertise here offer nice incentives for members. (PPCTechs among them).
