Question axim x50v extended battery hot & pda should I throw it away (battery)

Hello, I've already read as many threads in here as I could find.
I checked the links if any for new extended batteries..

Question: I have a used pda dell axim x50v.. I received with it all the equipment for it, batteries, large and small, cables etc....

I had purchased a extended battery from ebay ~ yes I did buy from them, that's where I purchased the pda, and I had a good experience.

The other day, I was in here reading some and tried the server trick, the battery was draining alittle to fast, *extended battery, 2200mah* and I wasn't using it...

2 days later I got it out and it was so hot, I mean hot not warm, and it was off...in my purse.

I pulled out the battery, that was extremely hot, and put in a spare I had.

I ended up doing a hard reset, and did the server trick again before I did anything else.

( I noticed that before this happened when I recharged the battery, the charge bar on pda was showing the battery at 97% and would not go any further )...

then I did a soft reset, and still the battery was at 97%

The battery Never did this before?

should I get rid of this battery, it looks ok on the outside, but, I dont want to take any chances with it.. I read in here that these batteries should last for at least a year or more, I am not running anything major on the pda, and I have everything set to as low as it can go, and everything else is off, no wifi, no b/t,etc..

this other battery I put in, I have no idea if it's the one that came with it, or the one I bought from ebay, there alike..

can you give some advise please

should the pda with the server trick done, being charged @ 100 with everything off, 24 hours later be showing 96% charge?

everything I have is on cf/sd cards, only 4 things are on main memory...and these things do not run in the background

I hope you can give me some idea's, or let me know if this is normal...

Thank you

Seems like an old battery. Consider replacing it.

that's the thing, I am not sure if it's the old one or the new one, it would only charge 97 %.. this just started happening, and it was after I did the server trick, that it started doing this.

I hope it has nothing to do with it.

Thank you

do you know if it's normal to go down to 96 from 100 charge in 24 hours?

4 of them, can you share where you bought them?

I really dont understand why it is discharging, when nothing is on, but, then again, I am still learning so much about these things.

when I make sure everything is off, and that no programs are on, and then power off, its off isn't it?????

I bought my batteries from Dell.

No battery can keep its charge forever.
A internal discharge takes place depending on age, temperature and use e.g numbers of discharges.

Batteries are complex devices. You may get an overview if you click on this link:

Yes, I used to stockpile Dell batteries. I don't buy batteries from anywhere else.

My first question is - How fast was it draining to start with? My 2200mAh battery loses about 5 - 7% overnight. Even when it was new. The only time it gets a little warm is when I'm using the WiFi for long periods of time. But, it never gets too hot.

You might want to undo the server trick and see if the battery(s) heat up and will fully charge to 100%.

My present batteries are 3-4 years old and almost worn out = 1 hours run time or so.
I'm waiting for a new 2200 mAh battery to arrive next week - hopefully

It's almost like xmas - at least ® :o

Hi Kcallahan, it was draining about that much, but, it seemed to be getting worse, and the thing that really worried me was when it got extremely hot, not warm...pps the battery was charging to 100% before the server trick but afterwards is when all this happened.

I ended up changing batteries, but I also did a hard reset, then did the server trick with nothing loaded and I did not sync yet, so I was using a clean machine.

before ~ when I tried the server trick, it said to go back after setting it to manual and delete the fake server but the thing is, there was nothing extra to delete, I mean, it did NOT show a second server just the fake one, but, the password had changed and was not the fake one I created...

when I synced I believe, because I have it set ((( if conflict, change devise ))) that that is what might have happened...

so I did not delete the server with the changed password, because of fear I will wipe out something important.

I checked the pda just now, it was charged to 100 last night, it is cool, and the charge says 99% that is pretty good....

the server is set to manual right now, I hope maybe because I did a hard reset, and did the server thing before anything else it will work and not cause any trouble.

If you now more about this server thing, do you know why it didn't show 2 servers?

this is axim x50v but prior owner upgraded it to a mobile 6 classic

Thank you:approve:
