It would sound as though the battery is at fault assuming it
is supposedly new and similar to the 51v charging system.

I have bought 3 batteries from

PDA Batteries

and all have worked as advertised.

I thought there was a difference between x50v and x51v 2200mAh batteries. It may be that you have the wrong batteries.

I remember reading on a thread that the extended battery (2200mAh) between the x50 series and the x51. Sadly, I cannot find that thread.

I need some confirmation that the extended batteries between the two series are the same.

Are you sure you're not thinking about the backup battery.

If the standard batteries are the same, the 2200 mAh batteries should be the same. You'll notice in the link above they are the same.

I would like to "edit" this recommendation a little bit...

#1 - Don't buy just any battery from anyone on eBay, and almost never buy the cheapest one

I regularily buy batteries on eBay for laptops, cell phones, PDA's, MP3 players, hand-held game units, camcorders, etc. and have almost never had a problem and have saved a ton of money. When I did have a problem I contacted the seller an got a replacement with no problems for the one battery I got that was bad, the replacement was perfect.

Standard eBay guidelines apply when buying batteries, just be a little more strict than usual:

- Check out the seller, look for a seller rating of at least 99% with at least 2000 SALE transactions and READ some of the reviews that are specific to batteries.
- Carefully read the item descriptions to make sure this is a NEW battery, verify it specifies that the battery is BRAND NEW and not used, reconditioned, recertified, like new or anything similar. If it doesn't specifically state it is brand new, it probably isn't.
- Verify the specifications of your battery needs and verify it against the listing, some sellers sell batteries as "standard" or "extended" when they are not up to OEM specs, a common one is if a standard OEM battery is 1100mAH, a seller may be selling an aftermarket "standard" battery that is only 900mAH.
- ABSOLUTELY verify that the seller has a 100% no questions asked return policy, not just an exchange policy. In case things do go wrong, you have an out, except for a few dollars in shipping.
- And lastly, never buy batteries from a seller outside your own country. It is usually much cheaper but if there is a problem of any kind you are probably just out of luck.

I regularily purchase batteries from myworld.ebay.com/smavstore at eBay and have NEVER had even a minor problem. There are also several other sellers that are US based that have excellent ratings and products.

That is good advice. But, it seems like there are a lot of posts where the person bought a battery on eBay and it's defective and the seller won't replace it. :( As someone who buys regularly from eBay, you know the ins and outs. For a good many people, they don't.

Plus, the last 2200mAh battery I bought from Amazon (6 months ago) cost less than $20 with shipping. :)

Yes, they are the exact same battery, whether standard, extended or MEGA-capacity. Same battery covers are used between the X50 and X51 as well.

The batteries that are different between the X50 and X51 are the internal backup batteries that hold the memory in case the main battery goes dead in WM5 and lower, not the regular batteries. WM6 and higher should not need a backup battery from what I have read, but I haven't tried it yet since I use a mega-capacity battery in mine and have never had it drop below 25%.

Guys ... I just got a 2200mAh battery for my X51. Works fine. I need to buy a cradle, though. Does the original Axim cradle handle the Ax when the extended batter is installed? (I.E. will it fit on there?) I can't remember if the battery case would get in the way or not. I'm about to order one on eBay but want to be sure.

Thanks,

-CB :D

:approve: Will work with no problem, I have used standard, extended, and MEGA capacity batteries in the factory cradle with no problems.

As acejavelin said - yes and it will also charge in the slot on the back of the cradle. :)

Just make sure you buy the Dell OEM cradle. Some of the aftermarket brands don't have the slot in the back to charge an extra battery. :exc:
