I can't speak to the SDHC portion, I think that is depended on OS version and drivers loaded, but I had a CF to SD adapter at one time and it worked fine in my X50v (even worked fine in my old Casio BE-300 and Toshiba E740 too), so it should also work in a X51...

I'm curious - These SD to CF adapters cost more than a current SDHC 8GB card and a 16GB CF card - why would you want to use one - So you can just use SD cards? I would imagine that these adapter cards will slow down access to the SD card due to the additional interface inside of the adapter.
I'm currently using a 16GB CF card and a couple of 16GB SDHC cards that I swap as required.
I store my programs on either the BI Storage or the CF card and transient data on the SD cards.

I was going to use both a CF and SD card slot.

Sometimes the answer is "Just because I can..." Doesn't always make sense, but if you happen to have it, you might as well make use of it even if it doesn't always make sense.

At the time I bought my adapter, flash memory prices were much higher. Also, I wanted a way to use SDHC cards on my X50v running WM2003SE. (I didn't want to upgrade.)

With WM5, you can use the SDHC driver.

If you have WM6+, SDHC capabilities are automatically integrated.
