I wanted to setup my Axim so that i can receive e-mails in two ways:
1) When connected to my PC via the docking station
2) When connected to a wireless network
Problem now is, that i had to create two different accounts for this: one is the standard outlook account: "Outlook E-Mail", which syncs with my Outlook on my PC, the other one is the one I've configured ("Skynet"), with POP3 settings for the wireless network.
Is it possible to merge these two accounts into one, since they communicate with the same mailbox?
No, it isn't possible to combine the two. I stopped syncing email a long time ago for this reason. I blind copy myself all email I send from my pocket pc so I'll have a copy of it on my computer for future reference.
The "sync through outlook" thingy is a feature quite apart from "reading e-mail".
MS crap, I'd say...
If you can use IMAP for your e-mail (instead of POP3) you can set up one mail account where the mail won't disappear from the server(s) when read and if you set up a solution where your device doesn't sync with outlook but merely reads mail (through your computer's internet connection) when cradled you'd get one account functionality.
I think the "sync through Outlook thingy" was designed to work well with Exchange Server, but unless you are using an Exchange Server, it is clunky and not integrated with wireless email options.

I do just the opposite, GMail accessed via IMAP from Axim and cell phone, and POP3 on the PC...
We use IMAP at the work for everything, doesn't matter what machine I use to access that account, all my email is on every machine (PocketPC phone, Blackberry, PDA, desktop, laptop, etc.)... IMAP stores messages on the server but any device can access them.
