Would this be possible with the X50 or Loox 720

Is it possible to sync up a wireless webcam (D-Link DCS 5300W)once you have a WiFi signal established to the X50 or Loox 720.
Also are there any Bluetooth Webcams out there yet?

Sync via WiFi? Not quite sure what your asking...sync directly to the webcam? or to the computer, which is connecting to the webcam. either way im not sure, but about bluetooth webcams...my opinion is that they should be coming soon...

i'm not quite sure if bluetooth webcams will ever come out. Bluetooth is not a very highbandwidth protocol, the same reason why I think you won't see bluetooth webcams is the same reason why there won't be bluetooth headphones.

We went to Playa Del Carmen Mexico In August. Took my Laptop with built in WIFI. Was able to pick up a connection with a excellent signal. Hooked up my USB webcam and had friends watch what was going on.
Was wondering If the same thing could be done with a PDA but use a wireless webcam instead of a USB webcam.

you definately can with the D-LINK wireless webcam. A lot of them have built in wireless cards now, check out http://d-link.com/products/category.asp?cid=60 .

I'm not sure if you can connect wirelessly to 2 different devices at once though...if it is possible to connect to a webcam and an access point with the same device at the same time, that would be really awesome.

Thanks for the link. Have ordered the DSC 5300W will hook it up and see what happens with the laptop. If the X50 ever comes out will try it with that also. Thanks for your help. :approve:

Open your eyes my friend, there are quite a few bluetooth headphones out there... bluetooth is plenty for music (I think the max rate is 721kbps)

Well had to cancel my order. After downloading the Quickstart quide found out that you must have a 800 Mhz processor. Maybe in 2006 there will be a PDA with a 1 gig processor?

Sorry for the confusion. There are definately bluetooth headphones out there, but you won't get the same quality as you would with a wired headset. Having read a few articles, you will get audio similar to AM quality when using the HSP profile (ie: no hacks/dongles/etc).

I have yet to get anything remotely close to that with a powerbook connecting to a powerbook. 721 kbps is only around 10KB/s... definately not enough to stream video (tried a bluetooth digicam and I can transfer a full 32mb card through usb before it can finish transfering 1 picture with bluetooth).

I can't wait until bluetooth's bandwidth increases. I love having my phone, pda, powerbook, car, headset all synced up without much configuring.

[edit]
whoops, i messed up my math. It should be close to 100KB/s. I'm pretty sure half of that is for trasmitting and half for recieving just like wifi, so at most you'll get is 50KB/s. Still not a lot of bandwidth to play with, and definately not enough for streaming video. It's no wonder no hand held media devices come equiped with bluetooth..it would take an eternity to transfer all the media files over to the device.
[/edit]
