Where's the Scroll Wheel?

I just ordered an X50V and was happily reading the manual. Thanks to whoever posted the manual link. However, on page 17 the buttons are shown with NO scroll wheel. Ack! I do all my book reading now on my X5 and can't imagine not scrolling through with the thumb wheel.

Please someone - tell me I'm wrong on this.

Instead, you must realize the truth of the matter. There is no scroll wheel.

I also use the scroll wheel a lot. I think it is a lot more accurate than the buttons in up-down scrolling.

Hmmm... after looking some more, the scroll wheel appears to be a casualty of the new smaller, lighter Axim. However, I'm thinking I should be able to remap the Wireless and Record buttons for sroll up and down, since I use my X5 3 or 4 hours a day to read ebooks.

I should still be able to acess the default functions in other ways. Since I wouldn't use them as much as scrolling, it makes sense to remap the buttons.

Oh, just peeked and my X50v is now showing PreProdcution for the order status and I have an order numbber. Whoo hoo!

From BargainPDA Review
Quote:
Both of these (side buttons) can be remapped to other functions. I quite easily programmed the lower button to scroll down, a little compensation for the loss of the jog dial.

The side buttons are re-mappable without installing third-party software.

To be honest, i'm glade that the side button's are reprogramable. This mean you can use them in landscape mode ( for instants when gaming ).

I had a hp2200 with no scroll wheel and I hated it. I read all the time on my PDA, and the hp2200 was a pain.

I now have a x30H and love it. It is so much nicer. No scroll wheel on the x50 is a deal killer. I like how the x30 dial sticks out from the PDA, I do not think the side button would work as well for reading books.

I was thinking of giving my x30 to my wife and buying the x50 - but I am keeping the x30.
