Sure it would be (worthwhile, that is) ... I really wouldn't care how long it took to upload, since I'd be doing it just to offload photos when my camera card was full, or if I wanted to email some photos. As it is, I have to take my laptop along if I'm going to be shooting a lot of photos.
It's not a big hassle, or a frequent need. It would be nice, though.

IMHO, it's all about providing more options & flexibility. Last year many people predicted demise of CF and/or BT.
Notice all top PPC's now provide CF/SD AND BT/WiFi. This is fantastic because it gives you lots of flexibility on how you interface w/others.
You could get carried away here (like PPC w/CF/SD&mem stick).
Clearly there are many who would like PPC's w/USB host & it will be a big selling feature for them.
There are times when keyboard & PPC w/BT & USB provides best of both world's (like when in a plane & not).

SCORE
that's exactly what i'm looking for, i just need ONE port, and i need it to not stick out of the axim as much as possible. now to find one for sale :)
Edit: i'd actually pay a bit for this, theres a metric assload of things I'd use (I just hope theres some kind of generic game pad controller ala windows)

CF would never dissapear. BT is nothing more then a nice wireless gadget to work with headphones, keyboards and GPS etc. The range is quite short, about 30ft. Protection however is better then with wifi. Uptil now I myself have no use for BT at the moment. But when I would need it, I have it.

CF isnt going anywhere, good digital cameras use it.
BT however has a new revision which looks a lot better than the current incarnation, I just hope that it comes out soon and fixes things like cost and range (30ft line of sight, it craps out unbelievably through walls).

DAMN these things are around 150+. Looks like I'll have to decide if I want 20 gigs (this and my portable 20 gig laptop in USB drive) or a 2-4 gig carrying-nothing-more microdrive.

Is this a possibility?
SD Card/USB Flash Drive Combo
Taiwanese-manufacturer Digimaster has released the first SD card that doubles as a USB flash drive, or vice versa. One end of the card has the connectors of a regular USB 2.0 interface while the other end has the same interface of a regular Secure Digital, making it compatible with many digital cameras and PDAs.

Any other pda's
Does anyone have a link to a site displaying all pda's with usb hosts?
also I found this is being released soon.
http://www.twin-paradox.com/SEPDA.html
for $89
I require one because i want to attach a barcode scanner to it (I think it is just like a usb keyboard).
Cheers,
Moloth

That's for sure, I knew of its existence and bought an Axim with the intent of getting one of those things the next month. But that was when the x50v first came out...
I guess in their favor, they show a more complete offering every 5 or 6 times they change the date. Two years ago they showed a prototype version "about to be released,", then they show the smaller slimline one, then all of a sudden it's in a professional package, and now there's a photo of a driver cd. I hope for that company's sake that it's completely financed out of pocket. God help their investors if there are any.

I just got a Sharp C1000, it supports USB keyboards, mice, thumbdrives, hard drives, external dvd drives, cd drives, and much, much more! It is awesome! I won't go back to a pda without usb again.
