The solution is to turn the tweak off I believe, as the video mode that the tweak puts the pda in is completely incompatible with tomtom5. I'm sure that's not the answer you were looking for, but I don't think there's going to be any other solutions any time soon.

Hey guys! I don't know if Picard finally got his ppc of not, or if any1 have posted something like this b4, but I did a test of the gapi update contra the old 1...

I have tested the Dell Axim X50v with and without gapifix by Picard on pgnuboy120e with the game "pokemon gold", I had just done a hard reset and done nothing else b4 the tests.

The gapi drivers was set to "enhanced driver", "xscale" and "screen sampling" not checked. I used v1.11 of the fix.

Here's the results:

Tests:
1. No Gsget, no GAPI, full screen / aa
2. + gapi
3. + gsget
4. + gapi & gsget

Without With
7,5 --- 8.0
45,5 -- 164.0
7,5 --- 1.0
45,5 -- 164.0

btw - tests 2 & 4 on with gapi fix was done both with frameskipping locked on 0 and on auto, same results.

Errors: Without the gapifix the virtual keyboard is invisible in test 2 and 4.

With the gapifix the virtual keyboard sometimes disappeared when I adjusted the settings, but it reappeared after double-clicking the screen. Also, the framerate didn't show up in tests 2 and 4 but it was fuckin quicker than what it should be !

Btw - when I put on the "screen sampling" i saw the framerate in tests 2 and 4 - and i was stable on 164 fps !!! That's just _awesome_. :D

BTW, I can't get the Fpsece to work, sound works but image is frozen on the "load file" window... And so is the PPC.

Well, I decided to use the CAB file to install instead of the Windows exe and it worked fine. It didn't even create files on my ppc when I used the windows install. I wouldn't know how to live without this little app since it's been on my x50 ever since I first got it .

Long story short, I had to to a hard reset this weekend (ironically enough, it was partly due to the GAPI tweak being enabled ), and I ran into this problem. Thanks for posting the solution! :approve:

OOOOOOK, well, I waited and waited, but I found that Picard or Emulamer seem to have lost interest in their tweak.

A while ago, I emailed them and asked what was going on, they replied with a new alpha. They didn't want to release it then, but since they havent done anything lately, and this fixes issues with a lot of programs, I figured I'd post it.

Here's a zip with the newest installer.

First things first, back up your PPC in the event that anything horrible happens.

Before installing it, remove the older picard tweaks. Since this has a different provider name, it won't install over top of older versions.

The main difference with this one that you have to be aware of is that the background process must be running for the gapi tweak to work. So, first thing after you install it, go to the GAPI control panel, click the start/stop button to start the service, then click apply to update the graphics driver (the driver won't actually get installed until you click Apply for the first time, even if it's already set to enabled when you load the control panel). The best compatibility/speed should be achieved using XScale without screen sampling, but feel free to give the other mode a go also, since they should both work.

The service stops on a soft reset too (mainly so that if you run into problems, you can soft reset to kill the service), so if you soft reset you'll have to go back into the control panel and start it agian.

I've tested most of the stuff that I've read about not working, and tested most other apps that I happened to already have installed. Since the combination of software you have installed is probably drastically different than mine, things that worked on mine may not work on yours. Throw anything you've got at it. :)

Gets brighter until a thin vertical line appears in right 2/3 or left 2/3 of screen(can almost tell the brighter part is a ghost image of underlying one)
Flashes and goes back to normal screen
repeats twice after changing menus, then acts normal.

Pressed the Start/Stop button
Hit apply
Settings screen closed
Tried to run Gamebox Asia again
Error popped up Saying GAPI wasn't running
Second Error which can't be closed or the OK button pressed says

Screen is locked
All buttons are frozen (even power)
Soft reset

Tried running Gamebox Asia after soft reset
Warning "It doesn't appear that GXSVC is running.
System froze.

Ditto, and I've never had this problem before. I'm starting to wonder what Dell tweaked with the video driver that sometimes gets in the way of this app's installation.

I'm getting this same error when running Namco Pacman 1.0.

What the hell does that mean?

Important: This is not a general graphics tweak. It only effects programs (mostly games) using GAPI.

here you can download my first version of tweaked GAPI driver (freeware with source included). starting from v1.08 emulamer take over development, many thanks! (i'am busy with betaplayer).

run the x50vgapi.setup.*.exe on the desktop PC when the X50v is connected via activesync or you can use the x50vgapi.ARM.CAB (from the cabs archive) on the x50v itself if you don't like activesync.

please install the program into main memory, otherwise it won't work.

the way this tweak works will cause problem for some games. it happens when a game uses both GAPI and GDI calls to draw to the screen (example PocketQuake or MorphGear). because this tweak changes the screen mode to real QVGA mode and GDI still thinks it's VGA there will be some artifacts if a program tries to write to the screen with GDI. but most games use only GAPI.

never the less there is new control panel icon, so you can always switch between the original driver and the tweak (if you want to play with an incompatible game).
