Button Remapper?
I'm truly bummed by the missing scroll wheel. It was evidently replaced by the lanyard connector. Oh yeah, I'll use that a lot.
I've remapped my side buttons to compensate, but would like to be able to remap more than one function for each button. I tried out Vito ButtonMapper, as it seemed to be exactly what I was looking for. Can't get it work, though on my X50v. The program installs. I turn it on in Settings. I soft reset. It should appear, when I go into Start, SEttings, Buttons. However, the Buttons link does not work. I've taken ButtonMapper out and reinstalled. Same thing.
Does anyone know of a program that works for this?

VITO mentions on their site that ButtonMapper doesn't work in Windows Mobile 2003 SE.
I'd like an alternative as well, if anyone has any suggestions. (My wife's ipaq has built-in press-and-hold mapping, and it seems to be quite useful.)

I'd looked around and read the FAQ, but must have missed that.
Anybody know a program that will work with the X50s?

I know this doesn't help you at the moment, but in about 3 months time almost every current program out there will be updated for use on the x50. Don't give up hope!

I tried it, but the documentation is nonexistent. It works OK, but the it doesn't seem to be a hardware remapping program, but a menuing program. The included Home menuing is far more sophisticated.
You can map up to 12 functions to each of 5 buttons. As far as I can tell, these are not hardware buttons. Instead, you start the program and get a screen with icons of buttons (look awful in VGA) plus some setup buttons. Click on the buttons and it brings up the programs you've chosen and you then click one to start it.

Did some more poking around on the VITO site and left a message in their forum. An administrator there had posted that they expect a new version or update to be out "in the next few weeks" that will support WM2003. His message was posted on 11-2, so it should be out soon.
From my limited research, this program appears to be the one to get.

I've been using Vito Button Mapper For several months and it is a great program that should do what you want. I really like the "Macro" record function.

Does it work with your X50? My understanding is that it doesn't work under WM2003. It doesn't for me.

There is a Japanese freeware called BtnPlus. I can't test it on my X50V til I get home tonight though.

I'm using it on my old X5. I just mentioned it so that you know the app will do what your looking for once they make it 2003SE compliant.

I downloaded the latest version for 2003 SE, but I still cannot get it to work. The settings came up one time, but when I tried to set them, the program exited. Now, I cannot get the settings to even come up. Plus I've got two "buttons" icons in my control panel. Anyone else get this to work?
