Can't get buttons to remap in WMP10 on X50v

I've tried this OVER and OVER again, but WMP10 will NOT let me remap the buttons to whatever I want to.

Whenever the prompt comes up to "Press button to remap", if I press the calender/contacts/email button to map it, it just opens that application instead of remapping it. What to do???????
