Conditioning the battery for the x50v

So is it really necessary to condition the x50v battery prior to use? I've had various pda's with lithium batteries and I've never had to do this. Typically I throw them in the charger and immediately begin loading software. I continue to leave the unit in the charger until it's complete.
Just thought I would ask....

Hopefully I'll get my unit this week since I got upgraded to next day for free :)

it usually helps the battery life in the long run, but if you mess up with the intial charge, dont freak out LOL :)
