I'm somewhat satisfied with my X50v. My first PDA was the X50mid and that managed to blow out my motherboard (yes I was one of them) and Dell did manage to take it back after the 30 days for a full refund. Got the X50v a week after and I can only say jeez there's a world of difference. However my pride and joy doesn't seem to ever last a long time....last night I got a "Memory Error" message last night making me do a hard reset. It got real sluggish even after 2 more hard resets and 5 soft resets. Seems to be doing alright right now. I have 6 more days to figure out if I'm going to warranty this one. I really dont want to send this one back because A) I hate refurbished goods, never have any luck with them regardless of what it is. B) I got a good deal on this X50v and I really dont want to send everything back including the 2nd battery (which is nice to have!). So far, I only recieved that message once. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
The lock button doesn't inspire confidence and it's difficult to switch on or off easily.
That's funny...
The lock button is one of my favorite features on this new form factor. My x5 was forever turning itself on when I carried it loose in a pocket. Now I never have to worry about my PDA wiping out its battery.

Im hoping when my arrives I will be impressed with the screen. My current ppc an Asus a620 has problems with the screen miss registering my hits. If I go for the letter G on the keyboard it will often press down T or Y. But it doesnt always do it, sometimes it works fine. Its very odd and anoying ;).
Hmm ... I used to have that problem (Pressing 'G' and getting 'T' or 'Y') on my old iPaQ 1910. The problem was intermittent but frequent enough that "typing" got annoying.
I have seen no such problem on my X50, though. I don't have the "v" - the QVGA is enough for my needs.
satisfied after upgrade to new rom which fixed screen responsiveness delays and speeded up the machine considerably! i had been getting annoyed with how slow it was compared to my old ipaq 3650, but now it is comparable in speed.
Actually, my Xv sits on the shelf and I prefer my old Palm III. LOL!
Overall I'm pretty satisfied. :approve:
I do wish Dell would put some pressure on MS to fix the BT/WLAN issues with WM2003SE. They should have enough clought.

I was so annoyed with this problem on the x50v that I bought an FSC PocketLoox 720, functionally almost identical to the x50v but with a slightly slower processor, less Flash store, and 128Mb RAM. I have nowhere near the sort of problems with the Loox that I had on the Axim.
I even paid for a 128Mb RAM upgrade for the Axim to see if this was related to this issue, but within a few hours of getting the 128Mb x50v back, the WiFi crashed out again. The only way I can get it to behave is to take out the Today plug-ins. Unfortunately, I think this is an unnaceptable loss of functionality, and since there are a number of other things FSC have implemented better on the Loox, the Axim is taking a trip to eBay.
Just my $.02, I'm growing to like it more and more although, I'm so paranoid about battery life I don't really just sit around and "play" with various features and options like I used to do on my X5 Advanced (PLEASE Mugen, hurry up and get us a humongous battery! The two slots were a must have for me. I'm so glad Dell kept them in the X50v. Its a little smaller in size and weight than the X5, although I never thought it was bad. The screen is of course an order of magnitude better than the X5's and I'm getting used to how to hold the stylus to make it work as consistently as the X5's. I guess the speed is better, I'm still limited by my input limitations and the output of Activesynch. I'm sure its crunchin' numbers internally a lot faster but I can't really take advantage of that too much. I don't watch videos (the screen's too small!), music is cool especially with x50 mixer on it but it wasn't bad on the X5 either. The built in wireless is nice, all you need is a hotspot. I don't have to carry the extra CF wireless card with me anymore. I wish they had made the plugs on the X5 and the X50v compatable so I could use my mouse-type GPS. Now I'll spend almost $300 to get a CF GPS and new software I guess. So, I guess it was an improvement, but its an evolutionary, not revolutionary step.
X50v is a wonderful machine. Asthetically beautiful. screen is gourgeous. But, anyway, it is a microsoft windows machine. I lost a very important conference recording, after my x50v crashed after I clicked stop button of "note" program. That happened twice, both were fairly important meetings, so, I was quite frustrated after I found that no recording was left. I also had to experience another type of crash so often. Soft reset is not a big-deal, the problem is the liability. If I have to show some very important information to my client, and the machine crashes... that's a major disaster.
I am very very happy with my x50v. This is my first non-iPAQ since my first Pocket PC. I went from iPAQ 3670 - h5455 - h5555 (with all sorts of sleves= CF, PC Card, Thumbboard, Bar Coder) to h4155 to h4705. I hated the h4705 because of its bulkiness and its touchpad. I missed the design and the compactness of my h4155 but I didn't want to go back to QVGA display anymore and that's why I opted to try Dell's x50v. So far, I am very happy camper.
I use my pocket pc to its fullest and I've passed the point where I don't play with it anymore to see what Pocket PCs can do. I use it like it's part of my hand. I can't live without a pocket pc and the Dell x50v makes me even more productive and it's joyable to use it.
