Is the WiFi switch bug really happening?

I've read some people's reviews and most of them mentioned about the WiFi sliding switch on the side.

Once you turn it off, then turn it back on it gives a error messege and what you have to do to fix it is soft resetting the PDA.

Is it true?

It's not the WiFi button. My first X50v experienced wireless errors as you described and since my replacement, I have yet to experience the problem again. I am attributing this error to third-party applications. In my case, it seemed as if everytime I had Acrobat Reader 2.0 running I experienced the issue.

There's a thread on the hardware forum on this. I posted on this here a few days ago and no one replied....so I dont think it must be a widespread thing. My guess is that somehow when you turn on wifi it checks the SD and CF slots and if you have a memory card in there it maybe thinks that these are not wifi cards and gives the error i.e. it is not going directly to the internal wifi card first. I left out my sd card for a few days and have not had the problem since. Obviously this is not a long term solution - hopefully the replacement I have on the way won't have this issue.......which also happened with the X3i last year. Dell told me it was a hardware problem but when I asked here if this was the problem with the X3i no one replied....

Yep, I have this too. It's to do with the X50v's WiFi not the button. Hopefully it'll be fixed in the upcoming ROM update.

Interestingly, my first unit would hang on the video self test and this second one plays the video in the test (takes about 5 seconds to do anything and the video itself is grainy)....so at least this one seems better but overall it shows differences in production quality.

Any more news on the when, where and what of the ROM update?
