How are you guys making your cables? Where do you find a connector to connect to the X50?

that's what I want to know... wheere do you get this connector. I have looked at all the usual places where I found the x5 connector but they don't have it yet. I think I can build a car charger with an extra connector for my GPS for about $25 from radio shack parts but need the connector. I guess I could use the adapter it came with but that's just one extra part to get lost.

Code:
Just to make sure... looking at the back of the connector where the solder pads are, it's numbered like this, right?

             back of x50v
  ______----________________________----______
1 17 19 35
_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
2 18 20 36
  -------------------_____--------------------
             front of x50v
edit: thanks rudolph!

Code:
use the code tag
[ code] your stuff that needs a fixed-width font [/code]
(of course, you have to get rid of the space after [ and before code])

Now, where did you get your connector? :P

I emailed gomadic.com and they have plans to sell connectors at the end of December.

I'm sorry but, that's not what I wanted exactkly, Picard.
I think that someone who need pin layout, want to use GPS.
In order to use GPS, we should know the which pin is RxD.

Does anyone have information about Rxd???

the pinout picard gave is just the vga channels....if you look at a normal vga cable pinout they match up (as in the names of them :))

as for what to use as a cable, the dell piece comes as a female, (so any monitor can plug into it just like your pc), but i you have a monitor that uses a dual male connector cord, you could buy another male to male cord, cut the one end off and pin it to the x50v correctly, then take the other and and plug it into your monitors female jack

to be clear,
female = the kind with no pins (the port on your pc for monitor is female)
male = side with pins

the biggest problem i see with a home made is that the pins are VERY small, the only logical way to me is if you open the cradle and solder to the board in the cradle....but i dont think i would do that since i dont want to risk losing a cradle....

for now i will what for some other company to make a vga out cable....:)

The power adapters (not the thing that plugs into the wall, but the thing that plugs into the bottom of the axim and lets you plug it into the power plug) have all of the pins, and they're $9 or something from Dell... that's pretty expensive for a connector, but considerably less than a VGA cable.

I have the same problem : need to connect my serial gps ( garmin V ) to the X50, it was connected to the X5 before I sell it.
for the present, gomadic mail me :
"We will support the X50 too.* We hope to have everything available from the beginning of next year."

Has anyone in Canada got the power->x50 connector from Dell? I called them and they had me call 5 different numbers and then they had me going in circles.

I'm trying to connect my serial GPS to X50v.

I think the pin layout is different from x50. Could you please email me a copy of the x50v pin layout?

Thanks!
