Thank you for the layout, I could verify that your layout was correct. I have successfully connected a Xaiox X3 Mouse (It has 3.3V TTL output) to my x50v.

I can see data coming in through COM1!

Right now it's too cold to go outside in order to get a GPS lock, I will do that tomorrow.

Thanks again,

MiR

Could you post some pics of your soldering to the x50v connector? They would be greatly appreciated!

Here are pictures of my rs-232 connector. I've used the power-adapter that came with the x50v.

I did not find out anything myself, everything was documented here in the forum, many thanks to the real contributers!

!!!!!WARNING!!!!!
Please note that the RXD/TXD pins are TTL-Level (3.3V) Never directly attach something to this pins that uses standard RS-232 Voltages (~ +/- 7-15 V) because this will for sure kill your x50v !!
!!!!!WARNING!!!!!

You can safely connect a xaiox x3 mouse, it has both TTL and standard RS-232 output. The Layout of their connector is documented on their homepage.http://www.xaiox.com/gps-x3.htm

Please Note that I did not connect pin#12 with gnd as in the original power-connector. I did choose not to do so to make soldering easier.

I also did some tests, TomTom correctly detects the X3-Mouse and Navigation works fine. :approve:

Roughly how much space is there between the 2 rows of pins? I could easily build up a few breakout boards that a person would 'plug' in between the 2 rows, solder the pins to the pads on the board, then plug into those pins on a header type connector.
And I ordered a couple of extra power connectors from Dell directly last week. They've since cancelled my order. What's up with that? Maybe they read some posts here and know what we;re all trying to do...

Hello everybody,
fist I'd like to thank everybody who contributed to finding the correct serial pinout.

I've merged all information that I've found here and added some of my own findings(like internally connected pins) to the following overview.

Still there are some "black holes" - for example the VGA out pinout is lacking pin-numbers for the ID pins.

I'm quite sure there are some USB pins - if anybody knows more, please post :)

Does anybody know if it would be possible to connect a PS/2 or USB keyboard to the Axim by doing some soddering and whatnot? It would be a lot cheaper just to use an old keyboard then to buy a special one. Any links or tutorials would be appreciated.

Hi,
You guys are looking for connectors?
I emailed gomadic.com and they said, x50 connectors will be in stock next Monday.
I think that they may post pin layout also.
Don't brake your sync cable^^

I emailed and asked them basically the same thing about a month ago and a couple of weeks ago, etc. I gave up. They kept pushing back the date back, one day, 2 days, one week, 2 weeks.
But I guess we can always hope.

Question

Would it be possible to make a connector to attach an Orange SPV E200 smartphone to an X50v for use of GPRS modem?
