Funny thing, I just did the same myself. Try restoring your databases first and then go to the file system, etc.

I went through the proccess that you told me to do, the last thing I backed up was the registry and that seems to be what is causing the problems. Too bad. I guess I can't trust Sprite Backup anymore. Any other good backup programs out there?

What's the advantage of using sprite backup? I just badly screwed my Axim by testing some older software and trying to fix it with SK Tools- it corrupted the event handler database- and by backing up the current configuration/hardware reset/previous configuration/harwdare reset/back to current configuration the Axim sprang back to life with all current data intact.
All that thanks to ActiveSync built in backup.

Mind you I am somehow puzzled by how did the backup know that the event db in the last backup is damaged, I had it extracted from the previous one using dbExplorer but never needed it...

Glad to see someone is with me on this!

What version of Sprite? They have released 3.1.3 and recommend everyone get it to fix a bug they discovered.

It's not Sprite's fault. If you were having problems before you backed up and you fully restore that backup, you're going to have problems afterwards. It won't fix your problems if you created your backup with problems. You need to restore a backup that's problem free.

Worst case scenario, you held onto all your data. That's the only irreplaceable stuff, IMHO. Sorry to hear that you're having problems, though. :/

You don't need to load Sprite Backup before you restore if selected the Create Selfrestoring Backup Files in setting.

thanks for the info guys. I do have the latest version of Sprite and I was not having problems before I restored. I guess I will have to start from scratch. I will be able to restore all my important data and just reinstall the programs luckily. I guess I'll make two backups in the future, one with Sprite and another with the built in program.

Hmmm... I'm on day 7 of 10 of my sprite evaluation and am very impressed so far. I am running automatic backups to SD card every night, keeping a max of 5. I've been hard-resetting like it's going out of style (and we all know it isn't :p ), to prove to myself that the executable backups are reliable. Not a single glitch so far (as long as I set the date/time before restoring).

This is the first negative feedback I've found here about Sprite Backup. Has anyone else experienced any problems? I'd like to know before I spend the cash...

I had to hard reboot a couple of days ago but I have been doing backups nightly. When I restored my latest backup everything on the today screen was really messed up bad. What I did was I removed everything from the today screen using the today settings, did a soft reset and then put everything back on the today screen. There was no problem after that.

I have sprite installed on built in rom, so after a hard reset I just execute it from explorer and restore. I don't make exe restores.
