And dont tell me sirius is better because Howard Stern is coming
This would be the one thing that would keep me from bothering with Sirius. I'm waiting for the day when 92.3 becomes a Radio station again without all the bs talk for hours.
Finding Music on the radio is increasingly harder in the mornings... everyone seems to want talk radio.... which is the Last thing I want driving to work ;( I have to listen to people all day long so I prefer my drive in to be music and traffic updates *sighs*
Now... if I could just get traffic reports on my ipod, I'd be set and the radio would be off forever ;p
Sirius is better because you don't have to pay for premium programming(which is included) and it has MUCH BETTER reception(3 sattelites to XM's two...towers only work if you're int he line of sight. The MyFi is horribly overpriced and a bit bulky too...Sirius has plenty of products. Both companies are in debt and it's a wonder either stay in business. As for the Stern thing if he brings 10-15% of his audience with him they'll make a ton of money...more importantly it's the new head of Sirius that will make things go(the former head of Viacom). Hell they even talked about merging recently so kinda makes the whole point moot.
Not to mention saying XM is better because they have better receivers is like saying a painting is better because the artist used better paints.
As for the debt - any huge startup like this would and in the past has been in debt for a long time. They have financing, and it's completely normal for a huge startup to operated for several years in the red.
what i have done is to dl nero 6 ultra edition (free) and use the feature sound trax (it is a sound editor) it has a recording feature called record "what you hear" so i log onto xm online and record long sections (up to 3 hrs each). these can be saved as mp3 files so i have a collection of radio streams.
works well for me

I thought I was the only one out there who wants to listen to music when I get in the car in the morning. Everyone want to talk. That is way I have some CD's in the car. That way I can listen to music Or I have to surf the channels to find some music.
Towers need line of sight? I think you may be confusing that with the satellites. The terrestrial towers work by distance, not by line of sight.
Anyway, aside from pointing that out .... there is no need to rant about which service is better. Both offer things the other doesn't. Both have a negative net income ($584.5 XM and $712.2 Sirius). Both have almost the exactly same stations and programming just like normal radio stations play the same music.
Overall, the only difference is your preference. So let's not get off topic here and start a flaming war. The opening poster simply asked if anyone was able to get XM online working on the x50.
I have tried, but was unsuccessful, so it looks like we're out of luck until the PPC's browser and plugins are updated.

Either will do for me once it's up and running, tho' I read that XM Does have a local "channel" type thing for traffic... which means the radio truly is gone in the truck. And, from what I saw of the selections, XM seems to be more likely to fit my listening style... which is music and lots of it.
Are there sample sites out there of XM and Sirius? One reason I haven't added That toy to my toybox is I don't know anyone with either one of them... and I really want to Hear them for a bit before making a decision.
Talking is definitely going to be one the biggies for me, if their DJ's can't shut up for more than a few minutes at a time (especially in the a.m./p.m. drive time) they are prolly not the service for me.
I never wanted it in my new truck. But it came intalled. Now I can't remember the last time I listened to normal raido. I love it. I have XM but they really are almost the same. Give it a shot. I don't think you will be disappointed in either one! Good Luck~

Say what you want about him... he is funny as hell, and i'll be purchasiing Sirius next year as soon as he transfers over.
And it is cool to be able to listen through the computer, because then i can figrure out a way to copy the show to an mp3 file and play it in my axim later in the day as time permits. Kind of like Tivo for Radio.
Of course this can be done with any programming, not just Howard Stern. But why bother with music, since it is a constant stream anyway?

I listen in the car and at work...I never listen to regular radio anymore....both are for the most part the same...sirius has live dj's and xm has canned bits.
What I meant by the towers was that even with them you get into spots that it just doesn't work....both sets of sats stay above us all the time. I had friends who had both so I was able to compare wihtout buying(lucky me).
To the one person above who said he has it streaming how is he doing it...or is he just doig it through a normal computer?????

XM rocks and is way better than Sirius. I can't wait to listen to baseball this year. OTR is the best. Definetely use Time trax to record and then play it back on your axim. There are so many options available you don't need to listen to this on your axim..
Now that XMRadio Online is available as part of my normal subscription, I signed up for the "no additional charge" service and enjoy listening from my PC. However, like others I've been unable to get the service from my Axim X50v. BTW, the new interface does not seem to require Flash.
When I first tried using the Microsoft PIE (Pocket Interenet Explorer) I got a message that iframes support is required. I therefore searched and found out that the NetFront v3.1 Pocket PC browser supports iframes. Accordingly, I downloaded & installed NetFront but likewise no joy--it does not work. Now I get the following message:
"We're sorry. Due to inactivity, you will need to sign in again to listen to XM Radio Online. If you receive this message immediately after signing-in, please make sure that your browser is set to accept cookies. For further assistance, please go to our Listener Support area and read our "Using the Player" FAQs. Close this window."
I suspect that it may be caused by the popup window not carrying my credentials from the login window.
I too tried it again and still cannot get it to work. Perhaps when Minimo is publicly released it'll work?
