Betaplayer w/ 2700G plugin == 5 Hours of Video Playtime!

Woah! I charged and recalibrated my Axim x50v overnight. Installed Betaplayer, and looped an episode of Will and Grace...

Will and Grace s07e04 XviD 512x384 21m09s 178,948KB
Data Bit Rate 132 kbit/s

Brightness on the lowest setting w/ backlight, battery is the standard 1100, listening with earphones on a normal listening level...

Set the processor to the lowest 208mhz setting. Video played back perfect and smooth.

Battery lasted 302 minutes. Thats...

5 hours of video playback!

Is this with WiFi? Because 5 hrs of video playback on 200Mhz isn't very good at all. My asus could get 20+ hours on lowest CPU setting. Couldn't be that the graphics card sucks up that much power can it?

2700 optimizations

It's all because of the 2700 optimizations that are only in the x50v. I as well watch dvd video all the time at the 208 Mhz setting and it's plays smooth. Any other device without the 2700 needs to run at 500 Mhz or so just to get good video playback. This makes me only love my x50v more. I was so close to buying an Asus or Toshiba...

do you every get any buffering, or video freezing when running at 208 mhz? how about with a high bitrate film?

That ASUS was a freak of nature you should have kept it, my average with the 620 playing mp3's with the screen off and set in powersaving mode is only around 15 hours.

I'm going to have to call bull%$#$# on this one.
In under 90 minutes, my x50v's battery will drain approximately 45% just from playing mp3s with the screen off altogether (not just the brighteness turned down), xcpuscalar trudging at a slow 108mhz, and volume set almost all the way down (using headphones, this is fine). So that means I'd get 3 hours tops playing mp3s with the screen off AND the processor scaled down.
Now explain to me how you're getting five hours playing video, using speeds twice that of mine, on an 1100 mah battery?
Again, I say bull$#$#.

I doubt its BS.
I have an Axim X3 400mhz, when I listen to MP3's, I don't bother setting the processor to power-saving mode, its always at maximum. I get about 4 hours no problem with a full charge and screen off. This is with the standard 1100 battery.

My x5 was excellent with battery life, especially when listening to mp3s, but the x50v is a different story. I would be amazed if the x50v could play anything more than a 3 hour film, even when using Picard's wonderful program. I have two 1100 mah batteries and have used the x50v for about a solid month now, and can say quite confidentaly that 5 hours of video playback is EXTREMELY unlikely. I would, however, love to be proven wrong.

I would say I get 6+ hours of MP3 playing before I have the battery low indicator kicks in on my X50v. I can try to time tomorrow to confirm.
