There u go. One registry editor to the table
Find attached one registry editor just out of the box, is stated that works right with WM2003 but requires .NET platform, so u have to check before.
To be clear is a remote registry editor, it enables u to change windows mobile registry of your device from a PC.

You don't absolutely have to edit the registry to get it. Open up notepad and create an new file.
In notepad put:
20#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,0?\Windows\cplmain.cpl,-5075
and save it as contrast.lnk
Copy this file to \windows\startmenu\settings
What it is, is a shortcut "link" to the contrast menu.

Yes that's true, but without applying the registry tweak, the shortcut doesn't work.

Following this step for the contrast panel on my X3 (400mhz) I found that if you change the redirect value in "Power" you can bring up a different power settings dialog. It is less advanced than the usual version but has a better icon. It has Battery, Wireless and Advanced tabs. The Battery gives a simple bar graph. Wireless (although disabled on my x3 lacking wireless) allows you to turn wireless on and off. The advanced tab gives Time delay options.

Upon further poking around changing the redirect value of AdminPassword brings up an applet called policy. This applet has one checkbox with the following text:
_
|_| Restrict addition of new programs
Once enabled, users will not be able to download new programs via
Pocket Internet Explorer, Inbox, File Explorer, ActiveSync, or
Beaming to their mobile device. Users will not be able to rename
programs to enable them to start on the device.
This might be of use to some people as a debug or "Safe" mode.

This trick worked for me. Cool hack, not very useful but still interesting.

up to date are there any options for the X30. The screen brightness is a problem at night when I am using it for my astronomy observations. Does tweaks2k work? I have tried several free and not softwares that adjust brightness only to have them fail on the X30.

I use the ColourMe utility to create a new colour scheme for night time reading. Change all the default backgrounds that are set to white to a grey shade.

Ctitanic,
I'm running the latest version of Tweaks2k2 on my WM2003SE x50v. I have enabled the hack, done a soft reset, but I can't find the icon for a contrast control applet anywhere. Where do I find it?
Thanks
