I found that you can enable a hidden contrastapplet by going into the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Contrast
and renaming the "Redirect" value to "Redirect_" (or rename to something else, or remove it completley).
Then soft reset and go to start > settings > system > contrast and adjust the contrast. The only thing is, it doesn't remember the contrast after a soft reset. This should help with reading in the dark -- the screen brightness is too bright when you are in the dark.
I peered around for a hidden mixer applet too, but there doesn't seem to be one.
It probably just doesn't work on the x30 then. I originally found this key on my x5... that screen was too bright too, but the contrast slider didn't do anything on that either.
because it won't stay after a soft reset like its suppose to? I would expect to see it in the future models

Hey all! Youc an do the same with Updates, although the applet doesn't seem to do anything right now. maybe this appears when you install future updates. Whats up with Phone item though? No matter which group (for those who have not figured out. Group is the screen which its displayed on 0:Personla, 1:System, 2:Connections) I change it to it doesn't show up?

Ya know, if you mess with this little "secret" then you can adjust your x50v to be as saturated color-wise as the hx4700! Ha! One less "plus" to that PDA. *mwahahaha*
Now if I can only find a way to make this screen 4"....
Now if I can only find a way to make this screen 4"....
The key for screen size is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Control\ScrnSz_reg\
just be careful when adjusting the value, because the value is a multiplier. If you make it too big, your axim will grow to huge proportions and blow down your walls. Mine grew to 150" when I tried it.
How do I edit the registry? I found it in Resco reg program, but cant change the letters. Do you do it on the computer and save to the PDA? If so, I cannot find the registers on the pda using windows.
