Outlook Web Access (OWA)

Does anyone use OWA on a Pocket PC browser? It would be great getting my work email w/o setting up outlook. Just use a browser and read email.

Any advise appreciated.

I check my office email on my X30 using OWA. I have no problems logging in and it is actually easier to check this way than to go through our vpn with my laptop. Though it is easy to check, the screen really gets cluttered. This is one of the few times that I actually rotate my screen to landscape.

I'm with jwarkins. OWA works fine on my X30M. Just the typical PDA nuances of having no big screen, no mouse, and no keyboard.

I also use OWA on the X50v to check e-mail - It is a lot easier than connecting thru VPN and wo0rks well. I do not have the same setup as I do when using the browser on my laptop but it works even saving attachments.

Well, assuming you can access the internet OK, just enter the URL.
HINT - it's a much better experience in true VGA and landscape mode.

owa1

I use OWA access and had to install Macromedia flash to use the OWA correctly. However, I also found that if I do a ''right-click" on the frame that I need to see, Pocket Internet Explorer will allow me to see just that frame. Very handy when you consider how small the screen is!

Best of luck!

If you just want to do a quick email check, Outlook Mobile Access is a lot faster than OWA, and obviously makes much better use of the PPC's limited screen real estate.

BooDa,

Any info on Outlook Mobile Access? Maybe a stupid question but could you give a brief overview?

OMA uses the same frontend Exchange server OWA uses but it formats for smaller displays like PDAs and cell phones. It's all text-based so no graphics to load makes it faster than OWA.

I use Outlook Mobile Access as well, both on my work Exchange box and my home Exchange box.

I'm not sure but i think its only on Exchange 2003 servers? I know both of mine are.

Rather than hitting http://servername/exchange, you'd want to hit http://servername/oma/.

Give it a try! It's a nice simple text-based interface. Very quick and very easy to manipulate.

If I remember correctly (been a while since I set it up), OMA has to be enabled separately from OWA, and there is some other configuration on the server end that neeeds to be done. Nothing too major.

I believe SrValasco is correct that it only comes with Exchange 2003.

I have used it a couple of times just to read my mail. I later respond while I'm in front of a real keyboard. :)

It is an Exchange 2003 feature and has to be enabled separately from OWA (but it's only a checkbox), but can run on the same front-end server OWA runs on.
