Yeti 3d demo

I have ported (very rough) the yeti 3d engine to the 2700G. You can download a demo exe from www.intuitex.com/download/YetiOglDemo.zip.

This is only a technical demo, not a game. It is not optimised and has a few bugs (ie the enimies are invisible coz I haven't done that bit) but it shouws what the hardware can do.

It is the early yeti code, not the later code I have used in other demos so don't expect too much :). Now I have to port the later code...

AS soon as I hear back from intel. It contains code which is covered by an nda, and uses their unreleased libraries.

Wow cant wait to try this out. What kind of differnce is there between it running with the 2700G and it running without? I remember running the old version on my a620 and it was super smooth.

Running it without acceleration, at 320 * 240 = 32fps
Running with acceleration, at 640 * 480 = 37 fps and looks much better.

Neither of these are particularly optimised though.

Awesome

I showed it to people at work, and they were floored. I had been telling them for years that mobile devices would have the graphics capabilities of consoles, but they never beleive it until they see it. After people seeing and trying the demo, most of them said "That amazing that it can do that".

Whats funny is that I was running it at 208 Mhz and it was going super smooth. :) I hope there is a cool game made soon using this engine. Maybe with some hot 3D women that invite you in for a drink...

Again, keep up the amazing work!

Wow, it looks very smooth. If this was only a full game, that would be sweet. Screw the stunt car exteam, I love 1st Person shooters etc. Quake is OK, graphics stink, and I haven't gotten Q2 to run yet.

holy crap, this is so smooth. I am still amazed at the point that this little beast runs so smoothly with 3d games with such a clear screen, great job SeanX!

Any thoughts about using a control scheme like Nintendo DS's Metroid?

Seems like a perfect fit for a PPC FPS.

d-pad as wasd (forward/back/strafe) and stylus as mouse with the center d-pad button for weapon firing.

Yeah, I will end up doing something like that.

I have updated the demo recently, with weapons and monsters.

Excellent. I've been wondering if there had been any progress. I will install tonight and play around. What are your intentions? Will you eventually port the entire game or are you just playing around? I hope for the entire game! Thanks.

Sean,

Very impressive. That fact that a pocket pc can run a game that looks like this is mind blowing.

I'm sure you are aware of the following but thought I would mention it just in case. The options are not working for me (or I do not know how to make changes). I would really like to turn off music :) If the stylus could be intergrated into controls that would be awesome. Very hard to move around and shoot well. I like the fact that the record button changes the screen orientation. Some of the sounds that are in phone version (shooting, menu beeps, etc.) are not in the pocket pc version.

I wonder if anyone has thought of porting over GLQuake to the 2700G. That would be fantastic. Do you know if GLQuake is open source? Do you know if GLQuake was only Glide or was it also opengl?

Thanks for your efforts!

As much as I hate myself for this, I'd rather show off my handhelds' graphics than have good gameplay lol. This is amazing. I can't wait for more applications to use this engine. VGA=POWER MWAHAHA!
