Newbie Questions...

I'm not sure if I should be posting this in this forum or the General Forums or the Software Forums... but I'll take my chances here, since I just got a new x50v

First off, I'm probably going to be a media whore with my x50v... so I wanted to know if there was one media player that I could download to view all the different types of video files that I have. I downloaded BetaPlayer and PocketMVP, but each of them have problems with different files. I'm sort of a newbie when it comes to players and codecs, etc... so I don't know if there are codecs that I can download for these players or not...

Also, going from Palm OS to PocketPC, I'm not sure how much I like having the Start Menu, then Programs *and* a "Home" Screen(s). Is there an application I can download so that I have access to all applications on the Axim through the Start Menu?

I'm kind of a freak when it comes to things being really organized (hence the purchase of a PDA), so with that being said, is there a way to clean up the Start Menu so that the recently used programs are cleared?

Last thing... and this is the total newbie in me shining through... how do I *close* applications? I know when I hit the "X", it just puts the program in the background, and I'm not sure whether or not I should be going into Settings > Memory > Running Programs > Stop All... and doing that over and over? It doesn't seem all that practical or safe.

Anyway... that's all for now... I'm sure I'll have more and more questions as the days roll on...

Cloud909,
Regarding closing programs. You can launch the included switcher bar (in settings/system, or download one of many apps that actually close the programs. Magic Button is one that is free.

HTH!!

Here's how it works on Pocket PC:

- The "Today" screen is a display of your tasks, appointments, and other events. You can customize it by adding plugins (clocks, weather, news, etc.) or by changing the color scheme and background image.

- The "Start Menu" contains all of your most frequently used apps (you can choose which ones you want). It has a links to help, the 5 most recently opened apps, search, and settings. It also has a link to the "Programs".

- The "Programs" screen, accessed from the Start Menu, contains all of the other programs on your Pocket PC. If you are a power user or have lots of apps, you can add additional folders to the Programs screen.

It's sort of like the Start Menu in Windows XP - the Start menu has your most frequently used apps, while the "Programs" menu/screen has everything else.
