If you are able to print to you printer from you laptop, my guess is that you either have a printer connected to you desktop PC and have printer sharing enabled, or your printer is on a network print server. Take a look at the printer properties on you laptop to determine how it is set up.
I use HP Mobile Printing to print to a couple different printers which are on network print servers, so I use the IP addresses for the print servers. If your printer is conencted to your desktop, then you are using printer sharing. In this case, you should enter the desktop PC's name or IP address, followed by the printer name. It would most likely look somehting like either \\desktoppc\printer or \\192.168.0.5\printer or something similar.
You should have a better idea after looking at the setup on your laptop. If it is a shared printer, you will should also be able to find it my browsing your network via you laptop via Netwotk Neighborhood or My Network Places.
