Going to college...

I was wondering if the x50v would be a good investment.

I can't spend any more money to get a laptop so the pda would be the next best or the best thing for wireless.

Now I carry alot of files, can you carry all types of files on the x50v and then transfer them to the desktop?

I mean are they also good for taking notes if I have a keyboard to accompany it? Or should I go ebay and get a laptop?

As a power laptop user, I can tell you that my Dell Axim has taken my laptops place when I travel, when I don't want to carry my laptop and really whenever I am out of th office. I use it to take notes, tranfer files and check my email. I would say that properly equiped the X50 will do everything you want it to do. Word, Excel, Access Databases and Powerpoint presentations convert well. I have a wireless keyboard, and I would recommend a small wireless printer. I have trhe HP450 With blue tooth, and not the biggest thing I carry is the printer. I have also used the recording feature alot on the Dell. Many of my notes now are verbal, and I transfer them to written when I have time. I would say that the X50 is definitlyt a wise investment.

I got the price down to about 396.71 from dell, and I was just wondering, how much expandibility do I have for say storage? Are all webpages able to be viewed on the x50v?

Also can I store a 700 meg file say about 30 .rar files onto the x50v if I have a gig storage card and then transfer it to my computer?

God for it bud, I did!

Here how I look at it, do I want to carry some 10pound latop with me to all my class, for 6 hours, then have to wate at the bus stop and walk home with that. -OR- Carry some small X50 in my pocket. Its not like I need a 3ed pc, I only need someting to type on,go in the internet when the school pc's are booked, and IM my mates.

Make sure you get a keyboard for it too.And an ram card, for when in the boarding class's to watch a quite movie

RAM Card? You mean storage card? How do you watch full movies on there?

I'm sure he meant storage card...and yes you can watch movies. Check out the guides/tutorials on the homepage.

You came looking for opinions on aximsite? Of course everyone is going to be bias in favor of it. Sure a laptop has more bulk, but it's more versatile. If you're carrying books anyways, a 4lb laptop would probably be barely noticeable.

And since when did laptops become 10lbs? What are you carrying TanKiller? A 17" fully loaded desktop replacement model?

I've got a Latitude X300, which is TINY, but I still appreciate the sheer mobility of my x50v, and would have loved it if it had been around when I was a student!
