Question How much does a Hard Reset put back to normal?

Just so I know what I'm getting into before I really start playing around in the guts of my X50v, I'd like to know, if possible, how much a Hard Reset puts everything back to normal.

Is everything about the OS stored in ROM where it'll all get copied back to where it needs to go? Or are there some things that aren't in ROM and can potentially be *permanently* deleted by misguided tinkering?

A hard reset will restore the Axim back to the original factory settings (for the software). It will not have any affect on the hardware, and remember (if you mean literally, the guts of the x50v)that taking the Axim apart will void your warranty.

Welcome to the site :approve:

The only thing that doesn't get returned to 'normal' (ie the factory condition) is anything that you place in the ROM portion of memory (these have to be deleted manually).

So you can 'play around' to your hearts content safe in the knowledge that a hard reset will all you to start again.

EDIT - I was obviously too slow

I have not been able to do anything (via software) that a hard reset has not fixed.

Thanks, all. Now I guess I'm going to go break the OS a few dozen times and see what happens :)
