x50 WPA and Active Directory

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to connect my X50 to my work wireless and am having some issues. I want to appologize in advance if this has been covered elsewhere, I have been searching and can't find anything.

With that being said, I have an X50 and I am trying to connect to our wireless at my office, it uses WPA and the authentication is done through active directory. Essentially, when I log onto the domain with my laptop (via wireless) it authenticates me through active directory and lets me in.

I can't seem to find a way to do this through my Axim. I can connect to unsecured networks and WEP secured networks, but no luck on this one.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help,

Grant

One more thing, it uses a RADIUS server if that helps.

Thanks again

I do not know if you are using the basic Window Mobile setup or the Odyssey Client. The Odyssey Client came preinstalled on my X50v and is in the icon tray at the bottom of the today screen. The Odyssey client should be able to do this, because I have read it supports RADIUS. I use it myself and it makes it much easier to connect to multiple WiFi access points. Like Jermiah says, you will most likely need to contact IT to know what to set some things. I downloaded a manual for the Odyssey client, but the file is at work. I found it www.funk.com.

Thanks guys. I have been playing with the Odyssey client trying to get it to work, and I can't seem to get it up and running. I work for a small company full of Tech people, so they let us do what ever we want (for the most part). My IT guy is all for me getting it online, but he isn't sure how to do it either. I will play with it more next week when I get back to the office.

Thanks again

Are you up and running?

GMC?

I have the same issue. We Run WAP-TKIP with LEAp authentication, off the RADIUS server back to the AD server.

Currently, cannot get LEAp to work across the OD client. My gut tells me there is somehting up with the WLAN utility from DELL. After serveral hours on the phone, email, I found a guy who said, I don't know, I'll look into it. It was the closest i came to a useful response.

That said, I got it to work for two days, but never again. During the time it was working the Dell Utility was not answering when I clicked it.

When the connections do not work I get a message LEAP halted dur in the config tab of the WLAn utility.

Let me know if you got this working, or if my ranting makes sense.

I installed and configured our wireless network at work and it works with my X50v.

It uses PEAP which authenticates to a Microsoft IAS server that points to Active Directory.
