Try Ice Mirror, I used it to transfer programmes and data from SD to another SD, I just did a full mirror and the replacement SD has worked flawlessley.

I can't guaranttee it'll work that well between different card types but its free so its worth a shot.

I do not think this is possible. Have you try to move it and run the program again?

I don't think it is a problem to physically copy programmes from one card to another (you can do it with a card reader simply enough) - the problems will arise when a programme checks a registry setting for the location of a file - and it will no longer be there as it has moved to a completely different card.

It is really not hard to delete programs and reinstall them. I just did it to 4 different programs this morning and it took only minutes to do. They all work very well in their new locations (SD card).

You could also save some time by reinstalling the software and if you need some files to be replace because of personal settings just copy these files only from the old card to the new card.

I moved all of my programs from one SD card to a different one using a card reader, and they all worked fine on the new card. I think problems would only arise when you are moving from SD->CF or vice versa.

Agreed - that is because all SD cards are called the same thing and so the registry would still point at \SD Card\program

So my suggestion stand... reinstall and copy old files back into new card folder. This way you keep personal settings. I do this with PCs so it should work on a PPC.

or you can try just copying all files in sd card to cf card, and change all "SD Card" in registry to "CF Card"..

How about this: I just install the new map software into SD card. Only when I need to use the CF GPS receiver then I just swap the CF to CF GPS receiver. Does it work if all other software are still in CF?

Yes - as long as you do not then try to run any of the software on the removed CF card.

(If you are already running software off the card you SHOULD be alright as it should have moved anything it needed into main memory when it ran).

I agree with earlier posts advising the use of a card reader. If you don't have one, you can move software using Resco Explorer 2003 with Cut and Paste. I have moved programs and complete folders all oveer the place with total success doing this. Resco seems to sort out any registry problems - but it would be as well to use a registry cleaner afterwards, after a soft reset.

You will need to update the shortcut icon, of course, as it will point to the old location. Go to Windows>Start Menu>Programs and delete the old .LNK file. Then, with Resco, go to the new location of the .EXE file. Tap and Hold and select "Send To...>Start Menu as a Shortcut". This is probably not where you want it, so move the shortcut from Start Menu to Programs, again using Cut and Paste.

This all sounds complicated, but it is much easier to do than to explain. :approve:
