\My Documents\Dictionaries\MyWords.dct???

Anyone know what this file is for? It was already there before I installed ANY software, so I'm assuming it is a system file. It's currently at 0kb. Anyone tried editing it to build a personal dictionary? Is it perhaps used by Word Completion or some other built-in program?

I copied it to my computer and opened it with NotePad and added the word "Jumanji". I then copied it back to my Axim and did a soft reset. However, Word Completion still didn't recognize the word. This is the only .dct file I can find on my Axim, so where is my dictionary?

I would love to be able to edit my dictionary (without paying $8.00) because I use a lot of job-related lingo (military). Word Completion ticks me off when it has uncommon names like "Nathalie" but not "Nathan". "Jenkins" and "Jessica" are both in the dictionary, but "Jesus" is not. The whole point of Word Completion is to simplify text entry, but how can it serve that purpose when it has a miniscule database and can't be edited?

No. As I mentioned before, the folder and file existed before I installed any programs.

Which Pocket PC are you using? It is not a directory that is there by default on any X50. If you have an X50 series pocket pc, then someone used your pocket pc before you got it. Hard reset and see if it is still there.

I performed several hard resets within the first few days of receiving my Axim x50v. I am not 100% positive, but I could swear it was there after each hard reset.

I want to believe it belongs to a program I installed, but I can't find anything that would use its own dictionary, especially an empty dictionary!

It's from transcriber. Go into the options ...advanced tab...Dictionaries Button

The help file also explains it and how to make custom files and add them to transcriber.

Hope that helps.

That's what I figured. Now, why couldn't they include a customizable dictionary for the other input methods? This - in my mind - is one of the biggest lacking features.
