Does anyone happen to know if Skyscape has fixed this VGA problem or plans to? Thanks!

X50v's considerably slower in windows/forms based applications than QVGA devices. It's faster than any other VGA devices, but still alot slower than QVGA. I don't usually notice it, but if there's alot of stuff that's being drawn to the screen at a time it can get pretty bad.

What about a 30 hr shift?
Auto CPU, half brightness, A02 rom, I wasn't able to read an ebook for any more than 2:45. So, if over the course of the day you have the axim on for less than 3 hours, you'd be fine. Otherwise I'd suggest the extended battery or another PDA.

I have been using Tweaks2K2 VGA Brute force on Lexi Reader and all the text is crisp. The hack also works on the newer Skyscape reader, but it distorts the top and side bars and the entry field on the bottom for searching. Basically, it cuts about the bottom third of the text in these areas. However, the text in the window itself is clear, crisp and shown in entirety. Totally usable until the VGA versions come out if you as me.

The x50v will easily last an 8 hour shift if you're just doing intermittent tasks, ie. looking up a drug dose, checking an online journal reference, using the scheduling program, etc. However, if you're engaged in a lot of tasks that involve long stretches of time where your device is powered on, you may not make it through an eight hour shift, much less a 30 hour shift.

My solution to the problem has been to get extra batteries for my x50v. If I had a lot of down time in my day, I will often spend a considerable amount of time checking e-mail or looking at web pages using the Wi-Fi connection at my workplace. I'll usually need to swap in a second standard battery in the mid-afternoon. (I have a third battery for those days when I'm on call all night long, but I rarely need to use it.)

Do you think that an extended battery & Sena case would be too hefty to carry around? I'm wondering whether to use my standard or my extended case and which case to buy based off of that...

I'm a private practioner and use my x50v mostly for the epocrates functions during work. It easily lasts several days on a charge when I'm just using it for that. When I listen to MP3's, watch videos, or surf the internet the batteries go a lot quicker, but I still don't ever run out with usual daily use. I have a spare battery I always keep in the charger and just swap them out each morning. Never had a problem. If you have an EMR system and you're using the Wifi all day to access patient records you may need the additional power. Otherwise I don't think you'll have a problem.

I also used to have this problem with Skyscape apps. Lately, it seems to have just gone away... all on its own! Really!
I'm not sure if this is due to Skyscape updating their apps (I have their autoupdate thingy enabled) or due to Dell's latest ROM update, which I have installed.
Sorry I couldn't come up with a more specific diagnosis...

Hmm...still seem to get the blurry problem if ClearType is enabled. I tried doing VGA Bruce Force and the text looks great, but then with the menu screwed up and smaller in size, I have some problems with choosing the wrong menu option. How is urs now A2E?
