I've done some searching, and while I've seen it talked about, I have never seen a solution. Windows Media Player will not recognize any other skins besides the default. I have tried multiple locations (SD Card, Built-in Storage, Program Files/Windows Media Player, etc.), but it will just not recognize them. I did have some success initially with the uPod Silver skin, but once I switched to landscape it stopped recognizing it. Has anyone else run into this problem? How was it fixed? I have tried multiple soft resets, as well as two hard resets. Even after a hard reset (clean install), it would not recognize the skins in multiple locations. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you,

Do you have an x50v? I've found that it won't load qvga skins no matter where they are, and i haven't found any vga skins anywhere yet. If you look at the \windows\portrait192.skn you'll see:
Wayne Mahon made one that works. You have to sign up at pure pockets first to get it though.

I am replying to this with what I think is a solution. I am usually pretty good at finding info online, but this issue had stumped me. couldn't get any skins at all to work with WMP 10 - and no one was giving a solution. So I got fed up looking and just made it work. Try this.
Open up the skin file, usually "default.skn" with wordpad. Then paste the above into the file right below the first line - something like [Pocket WMP Skin File v1.0] --- may not be exact.
Then just save and close. Make sure windows doesn't give your file a .txt extension. If it does, just rename it back to .skn
Then for landscape, paste the above and change it to 640, 480 and Orientation Landscape. I save this file as "default LS.skn"
I am using an x50v running OzVGA "true vga" and it is the only way that I can use other skins. WORKS AND LOOKS GREAT !!!
why do skins matter?
the original is fine, ive tried others and all they do is less than original
ie no video works!
