Collected from various posts:
Tip-1: The new Today Themes (especially VGA ones!) are getting larger...(some of them could go up to half of a MB). The tsk files are required to be located in the main memory (\My Documents folder).
You can move them to your Storage Cards: Just create a "\My Documents" folder on your CF or SD, all the files you move there will work as if they are in the main memory "\My Documents" folder.
Make sure to delete a file called ignore_my_documents from your card (if you have it) for this trick to work
Tip-2: The Odyssee Client occupies about 2MB of RAM. Unless you need it, just unzip the attached file and copy/replace the one in \Program Files. Actually you can also replace the odClientCE.exe in the \Windows folder as well, as reported here: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=70561 You'd save 4MB of your RAM...
As reported here: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=72139
You can move the help files (.htm) from \Windows directory to storage card, you can save another 1.2MB (Note: only the help files of installed programs can be move not the ones in ROM)
Tip-3: Download the latest Avango Client (www.avantgo.com), which allows to store the Cache contents to storage card (avoid slow Built-in Storage). The default one store it in memory
Tip-4: Use tools such MemMaid, Tweats2k2 to move Pocket Internet Explorer (Temporary Internet File) cache to storage cards. You can do this by modifying Windows Registry too
Tip-4:: Tweaks2k2 allows to move safely shared .dll files to Storage cards :approve:
This really has nothing to do with this thread, however, I believe what you're looking for is process explorer from sysinternals. Do a search for the file in question in there, and it will tell you what programs have it open. Kill them and then delete the file.
It stops ActiveSync and unloads it from your desktop/laptop's memory.
On the plus side you gain desktop/laptop resources and it also solves the problem that some people have where their PPC wakes up every so often when cradled.
If ActiveSync isn't running then it can't wake your PPC.
When you're ready to use ActiveSync again run the program again and it reloads it.
SafeMode for PocketPC is a system utility, designed to help you in certain situations when your PDA may freeze or enter a soft-reset loop. It behaves somewhat similar to the original Safe Mode on Windows PCs, by not loading 3rd party startup programs, today plugins or services. This way, you have the possibility of uninstalling programs that freeze your PocketPC.

Requirements
Any PocketPC 2003/2003SE PDA (tested on xda2, but it should work on others too)
Try this to put the date and time of the title bar. I forget where I copied this from.
Displaying Date and Time in the title bar:
The Pocket PC display the time in the title bar, the user can select Analog or Digital using tap&hold on the time.
But some people also want the date to be easily available, this was actually available on Palm-size PC devices.
Fortunately there is a tweak to display both the date and time instead of time only in the Pocket PC title bar :
Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\
Create a binary value named "TBOpt" and set its value to "13 00 00 00".
Save any unsaved document and reset your Pocket PC.
