Moving files to storage card My Documents

I've just tried this tweak with the TomTom 5 zip codes folder, which usually resides in the normal My Documents folder. Sadly it doesn't work with this.

Spb PocketPlus 3 tricks for True Vga mode

I have seen some people having trouble with Spb Pocket Plus 3 and true VGA mode ( ie these two thread : http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=93595 and http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=91900 )

So here are the tricks that you should do to optimize your SPB+3 in true VGA mode.

1/ battery, brightness,memory cards and main memory icons issue:

In true vga mode the default icons used are QVGA, so just delete all the pls*.gif under default, duplicate the vga*.gif icons and rename it pls*.gif. ;)

2/ Ozvga settings issue:
In SPB+3, today icons settings are not in registry anymore but default they are in plustodayitems.dat under \Windows.
So if you want to handle the two differents VGA configuration you need two different .dat file.

I have done the following:
a - created two .dat files under \My Documents based on plustodayitems.dat, I named those files STDplustodayitems.dat and REALplustodayitems.dat
b - modified the two keys in registry:

For Standard SE
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\Spb Software House\Pocket Plus]
"Default"="\My Documents\STDplustodayitems.dat"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\Spb Software House\Pocket Plus 2]
"todayitems"="\My Documents\STDplustodayitems.dat"

(instead of "Default"="\Windows\plustodayitems.dat" and "todayitems"="\Windows\plustodayitems.dat")

and for True VGA mode
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\Spb Software House\Pocket Plus]
"Default"="\My Documents\REALplustodayitems.dat"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\Spb Software House\Pocket Plus 2]
"todayitems"="\My Documents\REALplustodayitems.dat"

(instead of "Default"="\Windows\plustodayitems.dat" and "todayitems"="\Windows\plustodayitems.dat")

c - then you should use this setting HKLM\SOFTWARE\Spb Software House for OzVGA, It should works for ozVGA (I didn't check as I don't use ozVGA anymore). It works for me but I am using my own custom scripts to switch VGA mode. (like I mentioned here: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=70663)

I only see pls*.gif files.. and none of the vga*.gif that you mentioned. Care to elaborate?

Thanks for your help

Tommy

I just reinstalled the latest version of SPB Pocket Plus 3.0.3888 and I still do not see the VGA icons in my list. (Thanks for the screenshot)

I even downloaded and installed the Icon pack from spb

Could someone zip and email to me?

Did you reinstalled while being in Standard VGA mode?

I don't think I've installed ANY programs in Standard VGA mode.

If you are familiar with the True VGA hack, you might have noticed that this hack makes the system think that you are using a QVGA device in order to avoid double pixeling, while when being in standard SE a VGA device will use its vga display doing double pixeling. Some applications are checking the registry of your device to install the appropriate dll or icons. So if you are installing in true vga mode the insataller will install QVGA dll and icons in your device. That is happening with PI, so it could happen for SPB 3 as well (I did not check but you should give it a try, I installed SPB 3 when being in Standard VGA mode because formally in v2 it would crash the machine if installed in true vga mode).

avi files

Hi you seem to know quite a bit about the Axim. I have just acquired an X50 and it will not play avi files, it has mediaplayer 10 which should play it? But no icon on the files and no associated program, when i open the media program and open file it does not recognise it.

Any ideas

Thanks

Simon
