BIS does stand for Built in Storage and user accesible memory in the ROM. In File Explorer, one of the folders in the list is 'Built-In Storage'. This is where you can access it.

As for the rest, check this...
- 'ignore_my_docs' would be at the root of your SD/CF/BIS, not inside the 'My Documents' folder. Make sure (I know you said you did, but check again) it's not there.
- Have you soft reset since copying and removing the 'ignore_my_docs'? Try that.
- Make sure the 'My Documents' folder is spelled correctly. I know it sounds silly, but it happens to the best of us.

the "ignore_my_docs" file is nowhere to be found, and i can't find the BIS folder either,maybe it's because i have the version a01 rom?? i've been beating around the bush but i'm going to upgrade tonight and see if that's what it is, i'll keep you posted.

It sounds you have the X51v/WM5. Just put your tsk files in the root directory of your storage card.

Solsie - Good catch!

AximAtioN - Sorry I didn't ask. I don't have WM 5 so I didn't realize that changed.

hey guys. Just wonderin..I have an x50v with A01. I want to update to A05 through the link in the beginning of this post but didn't know if I could do it safely with WM5.0. I'd appreciate any feedback. TIA

The ROM updates I have listed here are for WM2003SE ROM. If you have WM2005 (WM 5) then you should check Dell's support and drivers site to see if there is an update.

You could also check Solsie's thread here regarding x50v users who have upgraded to WM 5.

So here are the tricks that you should do to optimize your SPB+3 in true VGA mode.

1/ battery, brightness,memory cards and main memory icons issue:

In true vga mode the default icons used are QVGA, so just delete all the pls*.gif under default, duplicate the vga*.gif icons and rename it pls*.gif. ;)

2/ Ozvga settings issue:
In SPB+3, today icons settings are not in registry anymore but default they are in plustodayitems.dat under \Windows.
So if you want to handle the two differents VGA configuration you need two different .dat file.

I have done the following:
a - created two .dat files under \My Documents based on plustodayitems.dat, I named those files STDplustodayitems.dat and REALplustodayitems.dat
b - modified the two keys in registry:

For Standard SE
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\Spb Software House\Pocket Plus]
"Default"="\My Documents\STDplustodayitems.dat"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\Spb Software House\Pocket Plus 2]
"todayitems"="\My Documents\STDplustodayitems.dat"

(instead of "Default"="\Windows\plustodayitems.dat" and "todayitems"="\Windows\plustodayitems.dat")

and for True VGA mode
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\Spb Software House\Pocket Plus]
"Default"="\My Documents\REALplustodayitems.dat"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\Spb Software House\Pocket Plus 2]
"todayitems"="\My Documents\REALplustodayitems.dat"

(instead of "Default"="\Windows\plustodayitems.dat" and "todayitems"="\Windows\plustodayitems.dat")

c - then you should use this setting HKLM\SOFTWARE\Spb Software House for OzVGA, It should works for ozVGA (I didn't check as I don't use ozVGA anymore). It works for me but I am using my own custom scripts to switch VGA mode. (like I mentioned here: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=70663)

I tried it, but no result on my Dell axim X50v WM2003 SE.

Icon14 Indulge yourself...

I would advise using only this software and some basic maintenance software, i.e. Pocket Mech., to run WM5. I allow boot-up time on my PPC and expect some delays because of the real-time features in WM5. I won't let that take me into a "compulsive-frenzy" of mutilating software that I did not program. I tried the install with Solsie's fixes first and fazed by all of the hack job's. After a complete reinstall I found that a wise install is to run Tweak 2k2, tested software, and do usual maintenance. Any other quirks have been eliminated by simple system reboots, just like my XP if it has issues. I like to think of it as a more methodical and organic approach to composing my PDA's functionality.
As for you, good luck, however you decide to approach installation. My X50 is here to stay for a while, I won't be purchasing another PDA in this style of construction. It will be a year or so until I decide on the upcoming improved mobile computer. I don't bet on any manufacture right now. I will look for the advanced features just the same. No reasoning exists for me to buy a trend which is already one of my assets and, in my view, just as comparable.
For a WM5 cd, think ebay. - SW.

Need Some help here, i installed this Oz_VGA on my Device and follow the ooosadface from the First Page. To Make My Axim x50v A true VGA mode.

It seems to work after the reboot. But after a couple of Seconds of using it, i just hang everytime, so i need to soft reset it again.
What could be causing this?

Update question

Hi,

I just went back to Mobil 2003 from 2005 using Dell's site for software. Do I need to do any of the updates?

Any chance of getting the first post updated? It's roughly 2 years old now, and some of those links are now dead...plus there seems to be all sorts of new apps/tweaks/etc available for the x50 series.
