OK I've had a couple of requests for my PI settings. Be sure to save your current settings by selecting the 'PI icon' - 'Color Schemes' - 'Save Current' in case mine apall you and you want to go back...

1) Download the attachment
2) Copy the 2 files inside to your PPC
------ In the WebIS folder under My Documents
3) Open PI
4) Select the PI icon at the bottom left
5) Select 'Color Schemes'
6) Select the ooosadface_vga or ooosadface_non_vga depending on what mode you are in

That will give you a good base. From there you can customize colors and font sizes as you wish. Just remember to go to the icon and select 'Color Schemes' - 'Save Current' when you make changes so you don't lose the changes.

File Type: zip PI_Color_Settings.zip (2.0 KB, 948 views)

You've listed the some "True VGA themes", but I tried "OrganizerVGA" and the Wisbar Advance theme is not written for true-vga. The icons in the top bar are oversized. I'm using the latest versin of WA2 (.12), and run in true vga 100% of the time using se_vga and oz_vga.

That's right...Juni re-did them to work in the out of the box mode in order to get rid of the fuzziness. You will want the new tsk (WM theme) out of those downloads as they require no stretching and thus look better in true VGA mode. That's why I put them under my theme heading. I don't include VGA WA skins because they work as before in true VGA mode.

Thanks for the clarification, ooosadface..... just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something!

Please add this: Bluetooth patch from Broadcomm. When installed, this adds these profiles to the Broadcom BT stack in the Axim X50v:

1. High-Quality Audio
2. Keyboard

You can now use Bluetooth keyboards and stereo Bluetooth headphones (from HP) with your Axim devices!

No problem. Sorry for the misleading. I edited the top post and made note of this. Let me know when you try the new .tsk, for me they made a HUGE improvement. Even the text from PocketBreeze looked clearer. I hadn't realized that the little bit of stretching from the QVGA theme was that different.

The big ones shrink down if you have to go to non true VGA (or they just show the top left corner) and still look good.

You really ought to put BetaPlayer right here on your list. I know it's also in the VGA software list thread you point to, but I think it's just that important to get listed directly in your message as well.

I may add a "Software I Really Like" section, but for now I'm trying to keep it at tweaks that improve performance, protection or make it pretty (for lack of a better phrase).

Tweaks to save RAM

OOOSADFACE: Please make this in your list! :approve:

Collected from various posts:

Tip-1: The new Today Themes (especially VGA ones!) are getting larger...(some of them could go up to half of a MB). The tsk files are required to be located in the main memory (\My Documents folder).

You can move them to your Storage Cards: Just create a "\My Documents" folder on your CF or SD, all the files you move there will work as if they are in the main memory "\My Documents" folder.

Make sure to delete a file called ignore_my_documents from your card (if you have it) for this trick to work

Tip-2: The Odyssee Client occupies about 2MB of RAM. Unless you need it, just unzip the attached file and copy/replace the one in \Program Files.

As reported here: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=72139
You can move the help files (.htm) from \Windows directory to storage card, you can save another 1.2MB (Note: only the help files of installed programs can be move not the ones in ROM)

Tip-3: Download the latest Avango Client (www.avantgo.com), which allows to store the Cache contents to storage card (avoid slow Built-in Storage). The default one store it in memory

Tip-4: Use tools such MemMaid, Tweats2k2 to move Pocket Internet Explorer (Temporary Internet File) cache to storage cards. You can do this by modifying Windows Registry too

Tip-4:: Tweaks2k2 allows to move safely shared .dll files to Storage cards :approve:

Tweaks to save Battery

Tip-1: If you play music using WMP10, most of the key mapping don't work except the D-Pad. You can use the center button to map to Screen Toggle function. So you can turn off the "power-hungry" VGA screen...You also can press and hold the power button to turn off the back light as default setting.

Tip-2: Set Power to Auto mode to scale your CPU as needed

Tip-3: Use free utilities such PSSHUTXP to turn off the screen when you need to leave your Axim on http://www.pocketgear.com/software_d...&associateid=9
PSSHUTXP has a sleak skin for VGA! too :approve:

Increase your WiFi range

By default there is a setting turned on for the WiFi that will limit the range to save battery.

If you want more range, simply:

- Click the icon in the bottom menu bar of the today screen.
- Under the 'Power save mode:' section check the 'Disable' option. (Please note this wil NOT disable your WiFi, it will disable the power saving feature only.)
- click 'OK'
- You're done.
