Can not move Inbox attachments to storage card?

Is there anything that can be done before hard resetting my Axim when Inbox/Tools/Options/Storage tick box "Save attachments on storage card" stopped working?
When I tick it the busy rotating rainbow square comes up and after 15 secs goes off without moving the attachments. In order to leave the page I have to untick it.
A little background: It did not stop working without reason; I had the attachments on the storage card but one day after soft reset there were suddenly two directories /built-in with just mbox attachments and /built-in2 with all installed programms. The only way to get everything back to normal was to delete the mbox attachments directory and after soft reset all was well again. Well appart from not being able to move the attachments to Storage card....
