Will leaving dust between the screen protector and screen do any harm?

Basically what the topic says. It's my first time trying to put on a screen protector and darnit, I can't get the thing on without attracting dust first. Will leaving a little bit of dust between the screen protector and screen do any harm? My screen protector already looks like it's been used for a while, I may consider just leaving it off.

it wont do any kind of long term damage as long as its a 'soft' piece of dust,

SoLUTION:lots of people have this trouble, get in a moist room like with a hot shower on and this eliminates dust. :approve:

I'll try the shower thing tomorrow. As far as the dust, it from what I've seen it looks like mostly tiny pieces of string.

This is what I do. Assuming your screen proector is the washable kind (e.g., Brando, Boxwave, WriteShields), wash the protector then dry it with a lint free cloth. Then stick scotch tape onto the adhesive side, making sure you cover the whole surface. As you are applying the protector, remove each strip of tape one by one (i.e, as needed), being careful not to leave the adhesive side exposed for too long.

My god this is sssooooooooooooooo frustrating. I bought an of the Boxwave Crystal screen protectors a while back and as best as I could I put it on after a couple of try's and a clean. There were two small bubbles which I thought I could live with.....erm ..no.. it has irritated me over the last couple of days so I thought bugger it I will have another go. Arghh!! it took ages trying to get it off the screen without damaging it. I cleaned it using hand soap shook it dry and reapplied the protector. I now have more bubbles a scum from the soap and circles imprinted on the protector from the original bubbles. !!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!rage building.....skin and eye's turning green....feel clothes getting too small.......biceps and triceps ripping through clothing.......... :bang:

Wish I had picked up on your post earlier GIGI. Mind you I did use some sticky tape across the surface area of the protector (sticky side) and the wee circle imprints remain..?

I make my screen protectors from clear plastic purchased from a fabric store. It is .008mm thick and the material is used for a covering over table cloths. I got a sqyare yard of the material for less than a buck. It can be washed and reapplied as desired. It sticks to the screen with static cling. It can be removed and reapplied at will. I made a cardboard template the same size as my X51Vs screen. I have been using this material for the last five years and still have over 3/4 of the oricinal amount remaining! Give it a try.
