Faint Horizontal Lines on Screen...

When viewing anime or pictures with bright colors, I can see some faint horizontal lines on the screen in portrait mode. These lines don't appear in landscape mode. Anybody else getting this problem?

Also, I posted a while back about the 'shimmering' effect in landscape mode and to this day it still bugs me. Some people said that it's how the LCD works and that it appears that way on all LCD displays but I don't see this effect on the hx4700 or any laptops or anything. I have to hold the Axim about 20 degrees tilted to the right to get a good contrast on the screen and even then it's not even. I seriously wonder if it's just my Axim that does this because it doesn't seem to bug any of you?

I know what you are referring to when you speak of looking at the screen when in landscape as I can see the difference in my X3i when wathcing movies.

Though the issue with the horizontal lines is not normal. I would give Dell a call and see about having a new one sent out. If you have had your Axim less than 30 days you will get a new one. Otherwise they will send you a refurbished unit.

It's oh-so-very-faint but you can see it in certain scenes if you look hard enough. I only stumbled across this problem when I was viewing one anime that had bright almost single-colored backgrounds and the effect was just barely noticeable. You can't see it in regular movies though.

This problem is only apparent in Betaplayer, I tried using Resco Photo Viewer to take a look at some anime wallpapers that I had and it doesn't show the effect. This effect shows up using the 2700G decoder and rawframebuffer. An interesting note, the lines seem to 'flicker', almost as if it's like a CRT refreshing itself.

Could be a result of the encoding process if you only see it in Betaplayer. I would try a few more movies or reencode the same one and see if it still shows up.

I think I'm going crazy but I can see it on my Today screen for my wallpaper and for other screens too, like certain wallpapers. I think in the end I'm just being too critical, it's probably there on all the X50V displays and I'm just focusing way too hard on it.
