Gmail, Activesync and Partnerships...

Dear all,

I was sooooo happy, when I managed to install the Gmail POP3-account on my PPC. Everything worked just fine. The synchronization of emails with the Outlook on my laptop at home and the download and sending of new mails with Gmail. Just Everything. Then on Sunday I thought, I should try out, whether I can also synchronize Gmail, when just logged in as Guest. So I used my other user account on my laptop and tried it out. Worked well. :) But then I did not stop thinking. Unfortunately...

I thought, why don't I change the Activesync settings. I decided to get my Activesync in the office synchronizing the inbox and stop-synchronizing my private inbox (with some email-folders) at home.

First thing in the morning yesterday was a usual synchronization of updates. Then my Gmail-settings just did not work. It told me "Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and your e-mail account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again." Being a frequent reader of these forums, I instantly found the solution. I went to Gmail activated synchronize all incoming email from now (read the email, which came over night) and synchronized again. Everything okay so far.

I set up the new partnership (had some troubles with all those annoying double and triple entries, which kept me busy deleting them between meetings and trainings) and I was happy until I went home.

At home, I had to establish another new partnership. First I just deactivated the synchronization of the inbox. But this was not sufficient. Activesync told me that I already had two partnerships. So, I had to delete all those annoying double and triple entries in my calendar, tasks and contacts again... Also, the Gmail account wanted me to tell him to download only new emails from then on again, which I refused, because I can read my emails at home on my private outlook.

This morning, when I connected my X50v to my office laptop, Activesync could not find my partnership and asked me again to go through the set-up process. And when connected as Guest, Gmail returned the same message as mentioned before.

So, my easy question: What do I have to do to make Activesync work as before! I mean there are only two things, which are different from last week's seetings (which worked perfectly for me): I installed Gmail as a POP3-account and I switched the Inbox synchronization from my home to my office laptop. I could not imagine that this owuld cause so many challenges.

I appreciate your suggestions!

Hm,...

... I do not know, what I had done wrong before. So went home the other day, set up a new partnership (without Inbox synchronization) on my private computer and as usual I spent some time deleting double entries.

This morning I synchronized my Axim with my office computer and there was nothing usual. Everything went smoothly. And I do not know, what I did different the other time.

What shall I say. I am happy if I forget about my pending little Gmail-POP3 problem...
