Lotus Notes for X50 or X30
My dad, after seeing my new X50v, has decided he wants a handheld for work and is asking me for suggestions. His coworkers tend to use Palm devices because the company uses Lotus Notes, but I am of course recommending an Axim (Either the X50 mid or X30 high...I'm thinking the latter, but it's his decision) for him - but he must be able to sync it with Lotus. Does anyone know if this is possible and what programs do you need? I found one but it is $75...something cheaper would be better. Thanks!

Easysync, mNotes and Intellisync all sync to Lotus Notes. They are not free, but I've used two (Easysync and mNotes) and they both work well.

There is a program called Doublelook. I use it and it synchronizes between my Lotus Notes and Outlook accounts. It will synch calendar, tasks, and contacts.

A free (if your dad's company allow it) option is to install the Lotus Notes to Outlook plugin.
Mnotes is the best solution as it works with all versions of Notes. But the company might all ready be using Easysync as this comes as part of a enterprise IBM agreement.

mNotes is by far the best option. I tried IntelliSync, and it was absolutely horrible. It mixed up my personal and work e-mail and contacts, and I could not use it to sync via my company's WiFi network. mNotes was a breeze to install, it automatically sets up a sepearte e-mail account for work, and is smart enough to file your e-mails correctly, and send your outgoing mail from the proper account. It is also very simple to sync via your company's wifi. Just enter your desktop computers name into the connection settings. Also, their support is excellent. I had one problem and they solved it in less than 5 hours. You can download a free trial at www.commontime.com. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll try to answer them.

Sounds interesting. Tried the Lotus Sync product and it messed up my ActiveSync settings. So I'd rather sync between Notes and Outlook first and then to pda. So, is that plugin a separate product or an existing Lotus Notes function? Could anybody provide assistance on how to get this plugin please? A link maybe?

I work for a v large company that also uses Lotus notes. The company elected to support Intellisync but acknowledges it is very poor. I find it terrible, slow and prone to errors. I tried mNotes on a 30 trial basis and it is fast, simple and seems to work. Cost is around $50. My company won't support it though.

You can download a freeware from Microsoft for sync between X30 or X50 and Lotus Notes. The file name is "olconn2", which is connector for Lotus notes. Good luck!
