Is there a Note size limit in Calendar?

Hi,

I tried to add a recording to a Calendar appointment under Notes and an error came back saying "There isn't enough space for this embedded voice note. Either embedded recordings are not allowed here, or else the Codec in use does not provide enough compression"

Why does this happen and how can I get around the problem? Surely the option should not be there if it does not work?

Also tried to add handwritten notes (had only a couple of words typed in there already) and it said that there was not enough memory (different error). What's the problem?

Thanks for your help!

that I did not have enough memory and something about

Well, it's saved in My Documents, which is part of built-in storage. You probably don't have enough space left in built-in storage. Try clearing your IE cache and maybe uninstalling some programs that are in the built-in storage.

I have Notes set to save to my SD card though. My Documents is pointed to BIS? I thought it was pointed to RAM?

You'll generally find a "My Documents" folder on every type of storage, including formatted memory cards. Your Notes will generally be stored in RAM.

I don't know if there is a max size for Contacts notes but I imagine there is. I would suggest looking into Agenda Fusion or Pocket Informant. They allow files and... waitlist about anything to be "linked". So you could record Notes, or any other kind of file and link it to a Contact.

Gah you know what? I confused my terms. I meant RAM, not built-in storage. Most documents and whatnot are stored on RAM.

You can try using MemMaid to see where all your RAM is going.

You should try NoteM, a freeware program that records in either wav or mp3. It also allows you to set a storage card as a default. And, it will show how much longer you can record a current note before you run out of space. An outstanding program, imo, if you make a lot of recordings.

As far as the problems discussed earlier, I can say that it has been my experience that there is a limit (at least up to WM2003FE) to the size of notes that can be added to a calendar appointment, because I've exceeded it before. I don't know the size, but I've taken deailed handwritten notes for about an hour. Typed notes take much less space than handwritten. My solution was to create another appointment an hour after the original started and continue writing. Never had an error with such limited information as was input in the first post, however.

Hello,
I think you have to use diffrent recording codec to do that.
Tap Start/Settings/Input/Options and change the recording quality to
GSM 6.10.
I think this should work.

I didn't know this was possible with the default notes application.
Could you clarify what you did?

How about click on the Start button, then Settings, then Input. Now click on the Options tab. From there use the dropdown box and scroll down to GSM 6.10 and highlight 8000. Then click OK.
