1 item not synchronized?

I have an x50v using ActiveSync 3.7.1. When I sync between either of my computers, there is ALWAYS one FILE showing as not synchronized. Anyone have a clue? Is one file always getting changed so it never shows as in sync? It all says it syncs when I sync up, but as soon as it finishes, it reverts back to 1 item not synchronized. Am I completely missing the boat and asking a really dumb question? Help? Attaching photo of what I'm talking about:

move the files in your \my documents ni the device to soemwhere (i.e. SD card) and sycn again. if the problem persists, then check your pc's sync folder and look for the culprit :P

I tried moving items around... I'm going to have to suggest NOT doing that. I can not successfully sync now. I had to do a soft reset just for the PC to even acknowledge the Axim exists. Each time I try and Sync now, it just sits there on the files sync portion and will not continue. damn. if i can't get it fixed, I'll be doing a hard reset unless someone has another idea?

Do you know which file is not syncing?
If you double click on the "1 item not syncronized" you get a list.

Isolate that file and move that file from the sync location. (i.e. the folder on your PC that contains the file not syncing) work at getting a 100% sync without that file.

What type of file is it?

Before you do a hard reset on the PPC you might want to uninstall and reinstall Active Sync. It's easier and might solve the sync problem.

As far as the "1 item not syncronized"--I used to get this message all the time. Unfortunately Active Sync is horrendous at helping you resolve these kinds of issues. However in the Active Sync window, after syncing you should find a "resolve items" link. Click that and it should show you a list of the problem files.

My Active Sync frustration was after losing all 'my favorites' on the ppc i kept getting an Active Sync message that said "not enough room on device" under Favorites. Turns out "not enough room on device" meant "you need to recreate the subfolders yourself before Active Sync can sync the links that were stored in them."

hard reset...

Well... I did a hard reset before reading the whole "re-install activesync" ... that's too bad. Would have preferred that b/c the hard reset rather sucked. Was easy to do, but now I lost all my programs... back to reinstalling.

Anyway... this time around ActiveSync tells me which file it is "SysInfo\SysInfo.txt". I believe it can't copy onto the palm because it is a read only file on the palm. It shouldn't be trying to copy it anyway so I don't get why it would try to do so.

I can live with it not syncing. I'm afraid to try moving it right now considering everything went south the first time. Yeah... I'm chickening out. How sad is that?

You guys rock with all the advice though. Very pleased with the amount of response everyone offers here.

On the game show "Win Ben Stein's Money" they used to make contestants wear a Dunce Cap if they gave their answer in the form of a question.

Same happens here if you refer to your PPC as a 'palm.'

Okay - that was damn funny! :-) Yeah, I guess I did say that... and I'll be good and not edit it out. :-)

Turns out that the system didn't like my newly reset PPC because it didn't know who it was. Different name and all that. Tried to rename it back to the correct name... noooo... doesn't like that. Sigh. Now it has a new name. How sad. When I try and sync at home, I'm so uninstalling the software first. Hopefully it won't bark there too. :-)

Thanks for the reprimand. It was quite the laugh at work.

Can you force the desktop to overwrite the out-of-sync file (or the other way around)? I done that before by changing the sync'ing rules...

I wouldn't do it without an up to date back up in case you end up wiping out a critical file.

Another thought would be to make sure that all of your programs are shut down before sync'ing. I have an ebook program that will ALWAYS prevent at least 1 file from sync'ing if I leave it open.

I had one that wouldn't sync it was in my favorites, I would click on it and it would bring up a file named "design center" but I couldn't find it. Then after installing the ROM update and running restore, same problem, but this time when I clicked on it, up comes a list of all my favorites with little checked boxes in front of them, I found "design center" in a subdirectory under my AutoDesk favorites, just unchecked the little box, solved my problem.
