better alarm tones? got any?

These alarm tones are just TOO WEAK. What if I turn my sound down? Even if it is up they are not loud at all. Can I replace them? Is there any way to make it automatically turn the volume up or on when there is an alarm? This has been a weak point for all Axim's IMO.

Please :exc:

Take a look at SPB plus: http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/pocketplus/?en

It adds several enhancements, including repeating, escalating alarms. Works even if you have sound turned off.

That's pretty neat. Any way I can accomplish the alarm noise changing myself? Can I locate the files and write over?

You can find them in the Windows folder. You place downloaded/recorded sounds in this folder and they will be available to select as alarm sounds.

I see. This Spb program looks pretty cool, does it support VGA? I might get it, but I don't want ugly QVGA icons on my screen. Also, I don't see those options on the website about the alarm sounds.

Here are my favorite Star Trek alarm sounds. Sure, it makes you geeky, but the computer sounds from Trek actually make great alarms. They are high-pitched, easy to hear, and many of them are suited to repeating.

all you do is get your favourite WAV file rename it alarm1 or 2 or 3 and overwrite the ones in your windows dir.

You may want to back up your origanal wavs - just in case

i have done it loads of default system sounds - menupop - and alert sounds make lovely glitter noises etc etc - Loads of good alarm WAV's HERE

Awesome, thanks!

Though, I was wondering if they need to have certain characteristics: 8 bit or 16, sampling rate, etc.

I think the PPC is pretty flexible on the sound properties. I just downsample as much as possible while retaining acceptable sound quality--to save memory.

I just searched around the internet and found a recording of a fire alarm. I had an important exam in the morning so I set it to go off, and connected it to my home audio system with the volume turned up relatively loud. Needless to say, my room mate was thrilled.
