X50 02 Update and Sprite Backup restore
Hello All!
I tried the X50v 02 ROM update (not before saving out the 01 rom and doing a sprite backup first though) and figured I'd give restoring my most recent Sprite image backup on the new 02 ROM a try. Alas it didn't work. The X50v would not boot up completely. It would freeze and become unresponsive. I restored the original 01 ROM and my sprite image backup and everything worked fine.
My question is: Has anyone been able to update their rom to 02 and then run a restore from sprite and have everything work correctly? Just curious.
Im waiting until i have enough time to sit down and reload everything from scratch before i update to the 02 again.
thanks!
Keith

It worked for me
Sprite backup worked for me. I'm running Premium Edition ver 3.1.3, build 2412. Originally I updated to 02 rom and then restored from a backup I ran just before updating rom. Everything worked fine except X50 mix app (which was not full screen).
I did end up doing another hard reset and reinstalling all my apps just to be sure.

I backed mine up both with Sprite Backup 3.1.4 and the Built-in Backup Utility in the X50v, then flashed to A02, then restored using the Built-in Backup Utility. After the soft reset, I had no problems at all and I verifed the A02 version. In fact, it seems to be much faster now.

I used Sprite Back up standard edition. Everything seems to be working fine for me so far after flashing to A02.

I initially did a restore from the backup I did just before the upgrade, using the backup app that came on the X50V, and it worked, sort of. At least one of the new features of the new ROM did not work (the double push of the wireless button to enable and disable wireless didn't work).
I ended up doing another hard reset and reinstalling everything from scratch (what a pain), but everything seems to be working smoothly now.

Ugh, now I'm going to have to remember to always ask "Did you restore an older ROM's backup after updating to a new ROM?" for future problems people may have concerning their Axims on this board.

Well, I cannot imagine how long it would take to get this machine back to how it was if i had to manually do everything all over. I have a lot of tweaks I don't want lost also.

I ended up doing a hard reset and installing everything from scratch...it was easier then I thought...i have a better understanding of how things were configured too. Don't be afraid of having to redo all of your tweaks...doing them a second time may give you a better understanding on how it works.

I haven't done the A02 update yet. BUT when I updated the ROM on my 2215 a few months back I used Sprite to backup before the ROM update. When I went to restore from the backup I got a message saying that a different ROM version was detected and that restoring from that backup could cause an unstable environment (or something like that, anyway). I restored anyway and lost the functionality of a couple of proggys that were in the ROM. I ended up doing a hard reset and installing everything from scratch.
